Paypal to pay for N95 8GB

Hello,

I'm interested in buying a Nokia N95 8Gb brand new boxed, however the seller lives up north and initially wanted payment by bank transfer. He's now agreed to receive payment by Paypal. My question is if he runs off with my money and does not send it is there anyway that i can get my money back???

TIA

Sattie

If your paypal account is linked to a credit card (not a debit card/bank account) you should have some protection from them.

Check his rating, If he has a low rating, lots of -ve walk away

One good tip is to contact them and say, im up your way on business on xx date, is it ok if i come and inspect it and pay cash. If they say meet at xx carpark run.

Most honest sellers will not have a problem with you collecting/inspecting goods

Then don't risk it, EVEN though he may be legit. I've been burnt 1 too many times and the risk for such a high value item is not worth it imho.

Re: Paypal to pay for N95 8GB

He says that he's verified on Paypal......

part of me wants to make the transaction and the part of me thinks that this is to good to be true....must be a scam....he's actually selling the phone for £100 and willing to post special delivery.....

Re: Paypal to pay for N95 8GB

If it's too good to be true then you know the rest.

A popular phone scam is to send an empty box then claim that the phone was stolen in transit and they will try and claim for it so it does indeed get posted with proof of postage, but arrives empty ...

Find out where he lives and see if he changes his tune when you tell him you have a friend who lives nearby who might be able to pick it up and pay cash.

I would have tried this first then when he refused it would put all doubts to bed that you were missing out on a good deal.
