Thanks: Gave 98, Got 101 | Sending Cash By Mail
A buyer has asked me to send him cash (£575) by special del after I have inspected and confirmed satisfaction with my purchase.
I regulary send parcels RMSD but not done this before , has anyone knowledge and advice ?. If its a PO option is the cash insured as a normal RMSD would be.
Is a Postal order more secure ?
TIA

I think you're not supposed to send cash through the mail (but I might be wrong). Some couriers do a pay on delivery service at a fee but not sure if it's a business only service.

Yes cash is insured through RMSD, I have sent some before that way.
However I don't know how you would go about proving the contents of the packet if it went missing.
Best to ask the cashier.

Why not do a bank transfer, a lot safer.

Dont think id risk that amount in cash through the post. As Russell_Piper said i dont know how you would prove how much the package contained.

The only service to use for cash is a Registered Letter using one of the POs own Registered envelopes. (assuming the PO is still offering this service) There used to be price steps to match of value of contents so check that too. I'm afraid I'm many years out of date on the British Post Office. Does the vendor not have a bank account? Asking for cash seems very odd these days.

Just been to local PO to send some parcels , and enquired re sending cash. They accept it and offer RMSD insured del which would cost less than £1.
The cashier advised against it for this amount , difficulty in proving the contents.
Postal order for that amount apparently is costly to me.
Back to seller then.
