What was your wedding dance song??

As me and the Mrs used to be massive clubbers and frequenters of The Hacienda, we had these two - mixed seamlessly :

A bit different from the usual Maria Carey/Whitney Houston/Daniel Bedingfield stuff, but these tunes meant a lot to us.

We had Lou Reed Perfect Day as our first dance. The words were very appropriate to our relationship before we got married.

Then Children in Need hi-jacked it!

Incidently, my oldest child kicked for the first time at a Lou Reed concert a couple of years later..........my wife cried.

Iris is a good tune - definite first dance potential there. My other half and I are still trying to decide exactly what we're going to have. One of "our songs" is The Power of Love by FgtH, but I feel it's a bit slow and lacking in pulse; our other song is Crazy for You by Let Loose (yes, I know), but that seems a bit too upbeat. I've recently suggested Wave by David Sylvian and Robert Fripp (good luck finding that one, if you don't know it), but it's nearly six minutes long, and fairly slow again, but does at least have a beat to it.

Negotiations are ongoing...

Good song - Crazy for you, Let Loose is also a brill track

Do you still have to 'dance' to the first track, or can they just make an announcement and then play it for all to listen to then follow it up with a favourite upbeat track that you can all dance mad at and start the party that way ?

(saves embarrassing yourself infront of all...)

We got married in a registry office one week before our daughter was born. Our reception was a normal meal at a beefeaters, anyone who came brought their own food.

Usual family mess, divorced mum wouldn't come if dad was there etc etc etc so in the end we banned almost our entire family and had literally 4 people at our wedding and just our good friends at our reception.

Total cost for the wedding was around £20.

Been together for 10 years previously (living together for 9 of them) and are still very happily married 16 years after.

There was no dancing

My best man pointed out afterwards that following all the slushy lyrics the last line of the song is "till I find somebody.... new"
