Yahoo Mail Virus

I sometimes use Yahoo Mail, and today it tried to give me a virus.

It was set on the new and improved Yahoo Mail look that I don't like, so I decided to switch it back to Yahoo Classic. Once it switched back a warning came up telling me that I may have infected cookies, and that I should scan my PC.

I closed the box and then a banner ad at the top of Yahoo was advertising virus protection with pretty much the same information that the warning had displayed.

Norton then popped up informing me of the virus intrusion threat. Norton then took care of the virus and left me with this info:

Name: Downloader (Type: Trojan Horse)

Risk: High

Details: Virus

If you check the Downloader virus name at securityresponse.symantec.com, it claims Low level virus, but High level on the PC.

Has anyone else had this problem? The last place that I expected to get a virus was at Yahoo Mail.

Re: Yahoo Mail Virus

I've had no problems - just switched between the two and seen nothing untoward.

It wasn't an email I opened, I hadn't even seen what emails I had when it happened.

I've been on sites before when the ads have written code in them to download viruses onto a users PC. I think it's something like that.

yea thats why I updated and added JS-Yammer, I think its something that attacks yahoo itself and its not an e-mail.
