career help! doing A-Levels but what next?

Hi all.
Basically, I am 16 years old, and in my first year of sixth form.
I'm currently studying four A-Levels, consisting of PE, Human Biology, Applied ICT and Geography.

I am unsure in which career path to take.
I want something active, and in the outdoors, and wouldn't mind going abroad such as New Zealand or USA. Coaching, teaching, piloting are all i've come up with so far.

I'm not desperate to go to uni as its too expensive.

I've looked into the RAF, Navy, and Army, but still undecided.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and any ideas / advice.

Sorry if this an odd / hard question to answer, but i really am stuck!

Thanks again in advance.

Well cant really advise you but if I was 16 again i would focus to be an investment banker.

I would love to be working for an investment bank making them money and getting those big bonuses.

Good luck

Re: career help! doing A-Levels but what next?

if you want to go to america, NZ or oz why don;t you look into a "gap" year or something similar, something like camp america you go and work in a summer camp somewhere in the states or canada and they give you a visa for a few months more than the camp so you can travel afterwards.

With this you can look into teaching and coaching and see how you cope with the kids and the hours etc.

something i wanted to do but fell into working in pubs and i'm now in one of my dream jobs working as a hotel assitant manager looking into being a hotel manager one day.

Then surely your next move need to be in a job where the above A-levels count for something?

Have you considered coaching?

Also, a job in the RAF for a few years could set you up for life etc.

Very difficult at 16. What do YOU fancy doing?

Don’t forget, the Army/Navy/RAF run schemes whereby the sponsor you through university. A university education and no debt, can’t be to bad.

Re: career help! doing A-Levels but what next?

hi thanks all for your help - much appreciated.

my dad is pushing me towards the Navy, but i'm not sure why.

i just do not want to be stuck in an office all day, even if its good pay!

coaching is a definate possibility, and uni sponsorship sounds like a good idea.

i'll look into these - again thanks for your help.

Re: career help! doing A-Levels but what next?

I am in a similar position, i am 18 and finishing my alevels this year, ict, maths and biology.

I have considered loads of careers but just cant seem to settle.

I have applied to do general business degrees at local uni's but really dont want to carry on studying, it is sort of getting me down a bit but at least i can defer a year and have an option to go to uni in 2009.

I have also considered going into banking as i have very good maths and logic skills but can't really see me working in a sales environment and that seems the only way to move up quickly.

I really want a job where i am out there, travelling around homes/businesses, working out problems and fixing something onsite which is why i am also applying to do a bt aprenticeship, which hopefully i will get since i am over qualified for the one i want to do and people seem to move up quick in BT.
