Exclamation Talk sport; My addiction!

If I'm at home 9/10 I listen to this lot than music. Am addicted to Gaunty and H+J, then when I come home from work Ian Collins goes on.

Re: Talk sport; My addiction!

Must say, Talksport is THE only radio station I listen to in my car. I think it's great. My personal favourite is the Drivetime show with Ian Wright and Adrian Durham, although it hasn't 'hit the spot' recently with Ian Wright being away...he's back on Monday though

Re: Talk sport; My addiction!

I listen to H & J most days. It can be very funny at times, the two of them work really well together.

I sometimes listen to drive-time although the last while Adrian Durham really annoys me.

Can't stand John Gaunt though

Re: Talk sport; My addiction!

I used to loathe John Gaunt but the last two times I've caught his show he's been much more balanced. I must be getting right wing...

Re: Talk sport; My addiction!

listened to talksport - talk radio - since day one, really like it, i really have listened to it almost every day even if its just for a few minutes here and there, only show i dont like is the fishing one at something like 4-6am sat-sun.

beeb and other stations are far too stiff for me! i think talksport is more down to earth for me.

Re: Talk sport; My addiction!

It's an alright radio station, though some of the tripe that comes out of certain presenters about the England Football team is quite amusing.
James Whale is a must listen, that man loves to rant about anything and everyone hehe

Re: Talk sport; My addiction!

I don't know whether it's changed in recent years but the last time I listened to it was quite a few years ago as they had live coverage of a Test Match and my car didn't have LW so I couldn't listen to it on the Beeb.

Outside of the cricket coverage I thought that the programmes were dreadful. Apart from the fact that it should have been renamed Talk Football it seemed to be just a succession of phone in programmes populated by saddos who were still moaning on about a penalty that they should have been awarded six months ago

Couldn't agree more, H and J are entertaining but far too much advertising.

Re: Talk sport; My addiction!

I used to listen to James Whale all night a couple of years ago, but eventually just got fed up, when it tried to mimic a radio station version of The Sun.
I come home from work and the last thing I want to listen to is something that will make me depressed.

Dead right here. I've stopped listening to it as much as I did because of this. One football show after another- even when there's nothing worth discussing.
Gaunty is OK sometimes, but seems to believe that everyone out of work is a layabout. Bit daft that, as many listeners are probably out of work.
The breakfast show is OK when Parry isn't on- every time he opens his mouth is more embarrassing than the last with his pontificating about things he knows nothing about.
H and J. Why? A complete waste of broadcasting time.
Drivetime is OK if Wrighty is on, but the other guy must be the worst, thickest broadcaster in history.
Brazil is good except for the fact that he's always after freebies.

I preferred it when it was Talk Radio. I listened to it all the time and nothing else during the day. But now I can take it or leave it.

Re: Talk sport; My addiction!

wel people it is advertised as a sports raido station so what you expect? and footy is the number one sport in the UK so if like me you follow footy then its a good choice.

a lot of it is aimed at the top league but my team is in the prem so its good to follow.

even though ive literally listened in since day one ive never phoned in, anyone a regular caller?

Re: Talk sport; My addiction!

We used to listen to Talk Sport.
We listened almost every night via our bedside clock radio.

However, nowadays, we prefer LBC 97.3.

Clive Bull has an entertaining phone-in debate programme from 10pm - 1am that we fall asleep to.

We wake up to Nick Ferrari from 7am.

Good topical and political phone-in shows. I recommend retuning to 97.3 (or Sky channel 0177)

Re: Talk sport; My addiction!

In my view Gaunty is nothing but a loud mouthed, ignorant, arrogant If someone has an opposing view to his he just talks over them and doesn't let them speak. He sits there pompously spouting his views and he keeps doing that stupid annoying rolling of his Rs which is just plain maddening
I listen to Brazil in the morning quite often but turn the radio over when Gaunty comes on as he's unbearable.

Re: Talk sport; My addiction!

I thought Gaunt was quite entertaining the first few times I listened to him which included the argument with the Finnish MEP which was great.

Subsequent shows though and I can't be bothered any more, it's the same stuff every show - he always picks easy targets and you know how the show will go.

I like the weekend stuff, Ray Houghton, Andy Townsend etc. and Durham and Wright in the evenings, don't bother with much else.

Apart from the rugby show on a sunday it does seem to be constant football + whatever is big news at the time though I like it for that.
