Consumer news - football shirt price fixing - result

Hi chaps

Some of you may recall a news item around this time last year where it was claimed that certain sportswear retailers were accused of price fixing the price of football shirts in the early 2000's.

Which? took up this challenge and offered to fight this cause in order to provide compensation to those who had purchased a selection of football shirts during this period at the claimed artificially inflated prices.

I duly completed the claim form on the Which? website - and promptly forgot about this action. However, today I have received the following e-mail:-

Dear Claimant

Which? Football shirts action

We are writing to let you know that Which? and JJB have agreed to settle the Football shirts action that was brought on your behalf. You will no doubt be seeing this fact announced in the press very shortly.

As a result of this settlement, you will receive a payment of £20 for each of the shirts that you have registered with Which? and that Which? has determined is an eligible shirt.

We hope that you are happy with this outcome as Which? believes that it is a good settlement

We must provide your full contact details including your postal address to JJB as it is JJB that will be making the payment to you.

Would you therefore please send details of your full present postal address and your full name to me by email as soon as possible. We will then pass these details on to JJB in order for them to process your payment.

Please note that if you do not provide us with your postal address and full name, JJB will not be able to make payment out to you.

We are very grateful for your support for Which?'s action and Which? is delighted to have secured what it believes to be a good outcome for you in this case.

So, let's see what happens - hopefully a nice 40 quid cheque on it's way to yours truly.

Well done Which?

Cheers

...well not that great as just had another e-mail stating that the Manchester United home shirt claim is out of time - however the England shirt claim stands - so £20 is better than a kick up the bum with an open toe sandal any day of the week...

Assuming anyone wishing to claim must have proof of purchase? So who keeps football shirt receipts 6-7 years?
