hi just a quick question as i need a quick answer and help and feedback may take a while.
when i see some posts they link to an external site and on the posts its says linky how do i do this instead of posting the entire link

simon | Just found out how to do this the other day
click on the insert link button, paste your web address in, at the end of the message you will see the web address again you can delete this part and type in what you want to display on the forum!
hope you can understand that

Easier way:
Type in the text that you want to appear as the linking text.
Then drag and highlight the word(s) in question, then press the link button. Does it auto for you.

Then again, I type them out, can't be arsed to highlight then click something and type. It's also a habbit I picked up from IPB.

Whenever I think, "How have they done that?" I use the 'quote' function on their message. Their text appears as the html and I can see how it was done.
For instance you can see where this picture came from:
