Would that be a fair reflection of the public at large?

Friend of mine used to drive speedway teams van right the way across to CZ Republic and told us about Pilsen CZ republic as There are all these ladies of the night lined up all down the main road. Every age imaginable and every taste you are catered for. He has mention this on several occasions. He said its funny the attitude the British have to this sort of thing is totally diffrent from The rest of Europe. In Spain they are every where along the roads, just think where ever you see an empty stool, some business is being conducted....In Italy there are even the Italian equivalent of the UK brown signs for 'sexy shop'.....Funny how it is in English

I just don't get these silly people, we know it is as old as the bible and the 'bad' industry is a minority....I do speak from some experience as the family used to run but franchises!!! out the business consisting of brothels, shops etc....It is a service industry just like any other business....And just like any other business there are crooks operating in it as well, but that is the minority and the customers get caught out are the same ones who would buy out of the back of a van as well....Quality has its price

I've always said this should be legalised so it can be controller properly.
I also think sex should be available on the NHS. Sounds strange I know but think how much calmer it makes people. I think it would solve a lot of problems.

I saw that program on TV, thought they said it was US$200/day for a "girlfriend" experience, and the girls only get US$80 of that when they work...Thought it was rather sad and demonstrated a side of prostitution which was purely about exploitation of the women only....Especially the bits where they were forced to go with customers whilst they did not want to....

You know I have never utilised thje services of one of these ladies but I am often in a "punters' forum having a chinwag so to speak. What i cannot bear about the UK is the unrelenting puritanism that runs through so many of its people.You either get people who are too embarrassed or feel awkward in some way or you get the very vocal minority who keep banging their "morality" message. There is so much ignorance out there its unbelievable and these stupid moralists get far more attention that they deserve including HH. On the continent its never an issue so whats our problem?HH and her ilk keep mentioning Sweden a country which has criminalised the demand for prostitution.Sorry but Swedes dont even know how to have a laugh so why should we follow them??

Must admit I had some misgivings about the programme itself. Why ,for eg, did they only pick the most unpleasant of men one of whom brutalised a girl.the goirsl all come form very poor backgrounds and have come across prostitution as a short term way amassing sufficient income to continue their studies or to provide healthcare for a relative etc.80 USD per day is not bad money in that part of the world especially if it includes board and lodging. Hard work for them particulalry if they dont like it which obviously some wouldnt

If you need to have sex so badly that you need to go to a sex-slave, somebody with severe psychological problems or a drug addict then you must be really hard up. According to research prostitutes are almost universally victims.

Perhaps the idea that the prostitute is forced into their role adds to your seven seconds of fun at their expense?

The tone of many of the comments in this thread suggests that sexism and brutality towards women is still commonplace.

Unfortunately the control of prostitution will not stop sex slave trafficking or paying a very high price for drug abuse. There will always men who will not use a known brothel for fear of discovery.

Nor will controlled prostitution limit child sex being offered in private brothels to those who can afford it.

I don't live far from the red light district and drive past it most evenings - do you think those girls are having a good time and choose to be out in short skirts when it's -1C as it was last night? There's a bit of a difference. Those on the streets are probably on drugs. Those working as high class escorts visit you in a hotel room and make a lot of money. Those in between are those in the flats and houses and advertise in the local paper.

I think there's only the first category exploited. The others I think are doing it for the money and doing very well out of it.

Perhaps people should go out there and speak to prostitutes and see what they think i can tell you that amongst them there is sizeable percentage who do it because it pays well and because they enjoy it. This is fact! They have full control over what services they provide , with whom and where. They are far from being victims. These are the independent escorts.Those working in parlours are different matter for some are victims of traffic This is an area , where I believe, regulation is an imperative together with street walking which should be curtailed

I'm a very strong believer in that everyone has got a choice and things should be seen in perspective. I don't do my job for fun either, do it purely to earn a decent wage, that is my choice....

Morality does cloud an objective judgement, nothing wrong with that but let's not pretend it makes it the correct opinion.

As said before our family has got a few brothels (under franchise now), and all who work do that out of free will and choice. Some are open about what they do, others don't. Heck it might be your girlfriend/wife/mum who are doing it without you knowing to pay-off their Christmass credit card...But yes we all have our different reasons for choices, that does not make them wrong though.

Whilst US$80/day maybe a lot in certain areas, but since that is only 40% of the income does make it wrong and exploitation in my eyes.....I think anything more than 10-15% is not right at all....
