Moderation of Controversial Threads

I've just deleted a thread regarding complaints about the way that certain political and usually religious or race related threads end up as arguements and insulting and upsetting other members.

Can I please ask that all members ensure they not only read the forum rules, but understand them, as insulting members in any way is against the rules, and posting any offensive messages such as racist or sexist comments is not allowed.

Please remember that there are forum members from many races, religions, ages, and sexual preferences, so any jokes or insults about those topics will usually end up insulting other forum members, thus is against the forum rules.

Whilst we don't prevent freedom of speech, members are required to follow the forum rules if they wish to post here.

I would politely suggest that if certain members are easily upset about certain topics that they think twice about reading and participating in those discussions, in order to avoid any emotional upset.

I noticed a comment on the deleted thread that was posted about 3am asking why mod's hadn't taken action to edit or delete posts on the thread. The answer is simply that some mods prefer to sleep during the night instead of participate in arguements online.

As I've already spent over an hour online this morning, I don't have the time and inclination at this point to sit through and edit the thread in question before going to work shortly, thus rather than leave the thread full of offending comments, it's been deleted instead. The same may happen with other threads if they go completely off the rails, as it takes a lot of time to read through and edit threads, but just a few seconds to delete them.

I'm closing this thread, as I don't want this to turn into another arguement, but the other mod's are welcome to add comments if they wish.

I appreciate everyones help in trying to keep this forum free of insults and arguements, so thanks for co-operating!

One last thing, if someone is receiving abuse, or getting unwanted PM's, please PM a mod or preferably supermod for things to be investigated. If you do receive unwanted PM's, I would personally suggest not replying to them. And if someone see's a post or thread that breaks forum rules, please use the report option so we can look into it, but please don't expect an immediate reply in the middle of the night as some of us are
