Heat Magazine Complaint

Hi there,

Last night in bed whilst reading, my wife showed me the collection of stickers that were free inside this week's Heat. (honest it wasn't my mag

One of the stickers was a picture of Jordan's son Harvey and the tag-line "Harvey is going to eat me!"

I thought this was just bang out of order. To me there is just no way that anyone should think mocking disabled child is fair-game. really disappointing

I have emailed them to say I thought it was totally unacceptable. thebigcheese@heatworld.com

Anyone else notice it ? Have a look at the office copy and tell me if you think that this is over reacting to a "joke" we've missed.

Re: Heat Magazine Complaint

Thats just not right, but I didn't notice cos I would never ever pay money for mags like Heat, FHM, Ok, Hello, Nuts ...........

Will be interesting to see what reply you get.

But then again, I am sure that Jordan would had to have given the OK for this sticker. I suppose she is the sort that would sell her disabled childs image to make an extra few pounds.

To be honest. I really don't think Jordan would have done that.

Re: Heat Magazine Complaint

I take your point.....but adults have chosen to be in the public eye...... it is not fair to bring children into the mix and to poke fun at illness/disabilities in that way.

Im not suggesting in any way that there is anything of value in the magazines either.

I certainly wouldn't buy one !

Re: Heat Magazine Complaint

I don't know whether the idea of the sticker was to poke fun at her disabled child or not. Clearly it would be wrong to do so. But if nobody bought the magazine then the opportunity would not have arisen in the first place.

Though I'd love to agree with you, but I think you're ignoring great swathes of human social evolution, that relied on gossip as a means to foster relationships. Since very few of us live together in small physical communities, it seems some of us must 'invent' people to share gossip about. In other words it's a necessary part of the global village.*

James

* Perhaps a testable hypothesis - do people who live in proper villages (do any still exist), with proper local communities, feel the need for celebrity gossip ?

Re: Heat Magazine Complaint

This story appeared on Holy Moly (warning, stronge language, strong views, massive timewasting potential) yesterday. I have to say that I thought I'd run out of reasons to dislike Jordan but she seems to have found a new one. I don't have much of a high horse to sit astride here but I will only mock those who have the ability to mock back.

No that is true....and not much good either. Still don't think she would know anything about the sticker though.

Re: Heat Magazine Complaint

I was reading through this post and was thinking what are they all on about.

A child wanting to eat Jordan. Then I saw his picture (never heard of him before and also ddn't know he was disabled) and I got it. Yeah terrible exploitation.

But before I got it I was thinking something else entirely different! . Must have a dirty mind.

Re: Heat Magazine Complaint

Interesting that a reader would describe the sticker as being "in very poor taste" - as if the rest of the magazine wasn't.

All you people that think Jordan ok'd this and made money from this are sorely mistaken, one should never presume.

Re: Heat Magazine Complaint

I don't think anyone presumed that she was behind this tastless stunt.
But she has been too ready in the past to parade Harvey for money to the tabloids and trashmags for cash.

Here and here for starters

Those 2 videos dont make it ok to take the mick out of the poor kid though, we should focus on the kid in this situation and no one else.

Absolutely. Everyone should focus in on the child's welfare, including his immediate family, especially his immediate family.
