Bread Maker - U Got One?

Friend at work and I were talking about the cost of day to day items and ended up talking about bread makers.

Now thinking of buying one for she who must be obeyed as one christmas pressie.

We've got two toddlers who like bread and also like fruitloaf.

I'm thinking we can tinker around with the mix to add fibre and stuff and probably use better organic flour and eggs and stuff.

Anybody got one and are they any good?

I want something ideally that is low maintenance and if possible has dishwasher proof bits so I don't end up cleaning the thing.

And yet mine is used very frequently

Brilliant bread programmed to be ready when I want it, superb kitchen gear.

I would suggest to you ornament collectors to make sure you don't have to put your gear away in a cupboard to keep the place looking tidy, if it can stay out on the work top, you will use it.

Of course this helps if you have a mansion

Re: Bread Maker - U Got One?

Panasonic make the best ones (the SD253 wins loads of awards). We use ours all the time.

Re: Bread Maker - U Got One?

We used ours a lot for the first year. We then moved house and it's not been out of the cupboard since. I might have to find it again after this reminder...

Re: Bread Maker - U Got One?

Had mine 3 years and it's used twice a week on average.

I haven't bought loaf from a shop since! Well, once when we ran out of ingredients I think.

We've never looked back.

Re: Bread Maker - U Got One?

My life would not be worth living if I bought shmbo a breadmaker for Christmas.

Some friends bought one - never used. We have baked bread at home - it goes in the oven.

Re: Bread Maker - U Got One?

Got one and use it frequently, not only for bread but makes the best pizza dough ever... slap on your own toppings and voila.

Steamer as well, as mentioned earlier.. what a gizmo, crisp veg every time, fluffy rice with no hassles.

You know you want one !

Re: Bread Maker - U Got One?

We use ours, a Panasonic, loads. Trouble is it's more expensive than buying bread as the bread you make in it is so nice it just doesn't last long

It's also excellent for pizza dough. If you like pizza it will pay for itself in no time. Get a mezza luna too!

It's never been in the dishwasher as the baking part is removed and is no trouble to clean in the sink.
