.avi film conversion

Hi all,

Not sure where this should sit, but I'll put it here and if it needs moving then can it go to the relevant section.

I use Winavi and dvd decrypter to convert my avi files to dvd format. The finished dvd works fine on my £15 Pacific dvd player, but not in more expensive machines or my 360.

Doesn't seem to matter what brand of blank disc I use so could it be something to do with the way I'm decrypting the files?

Anyone got any ideas?

TIA

Gordon

Re: .avi film conversion

sounds like you may not have authored or burned the disc correctly. some dvd players are more forgiving and play non standard discs, some will play the raw VOB files without being authored. i'd imagine winavi is creating the correct data, maybe you aren't burning the correct disc booktype. are you creating the dvd folders and VOB files, or converting from AVI to a dvd ISO file?

Re: .avi film conversion

Hi,

Winavi creates an audio and video folder.

I then use Folder to ISO and finally burn the resulting ISO with dvd decrypter.

Is there a program that will burn straight from the files created by Winavi perhaps?

Thanks

Gordon

Re: .avi film conversion

if you have audio_ts folder and video_ts folder.

then you can burn the 2 with nero just using DVD data UDF format.

no need to make it into an iso

does win avi create .bup files etc? does it not just create Mpeg2 compliant files?

if so you need to convert to dvd format, using something like TMPGENC dvd authour etc
