New traffic wardens

Do you have them in your town. They work NCP and wear bright blue jumpers. They are very very eager to slap tickets because they are on commision. Whose bright idea( not) was this? They are already slapping tickets on legally parked cars, no one is spared. You dont even get 5 mins to drop someone off. I can see fist fights starting soonIn their first week in Worthing NCP have made 24 k profit.

The previous lot did a perfectly reasonable job invariably using their discretion and as long as someone didnt take the **** they would allow a certain amount of leeway ie 5 mins to drop someone off or quickly buy something at a shop etc. Not this lot . In one week they have already managed to **** off a considerable number of people. I can see trouble brewing unless they start practicing some common sense.

Re: New traffic wardens

The party line from NCP is that they do not incent wardens on number of tickets (after a TV prog exposed shenanegens). the reality is that they do incent on tickets. Often in their 'eagerness' wardens issue invalid tickets. Sometimes they cheat (many proven cases). Sometimes the Council is so keen to get the cash that their TROs are not in place and signs and road markings are non compliant - and therefor unenforceable. Sometimes what is printed on the ticket makes it unenforceable.
Councils have a poor record of doing this job as it must be done. Several newspaper articles recently about multi-million pound refunds being needed.
I have no idea if Worthing is up to snuff but it sounds like several regulars here will know soon - either from a 'nab' or from friends.

As they have become 'exacting' with the people of Worthing then very soon the people of Worthing should become equally exacting and find out exactly how valid this flurrry of tickets is. I suppose it will be a few weeks until the first batch of NTOs arrive, until then the grumbling will be from those that pay early and do look into it.

Okay. Sometimes a driver will be late back to their vehicle and get a valid ticket - it happens.

But a recent purge like this warrants some considered replies from the victims does it not ?

wardens are supposed to 'help keep traffic moving' are they not ?

Re: New traffic wardens

We have them in these parts although they wear bright red uniforms, blue might have been contentious in certain parts of Belfast I suppose.

They mainly ply their trade in pairs, usually one fat elderly male accompanied by a thin gaunt female sporting a beard or mustache, or both.

We call then redskins and their usual haunts are St Georges Markets in Belfast City Centre where they can clock up a tidy sum from the traders unloading goods and their customers in less than half an hour without breaking sweat

In fact NCP are so heavy handed with no leeway given, they are jepordizing the very existence of the markets and a ten million pound turnover in revenue it provides.

It's only a matter of time before a few of them are tarred and feathered, or perhaps scalped....assuming they have hair

Re: New traffic wardens

I learn today that NCP run a virtual monopoly as they own the vast majoirty of car parking areas. Their profit margins run at about 700%.Thye are rapacious beyond belief. They hire monkeys who are paid little but these wardens are on commision as well. Whoever decided NCP should provide these wardens wants barbed wire run across his backside. Bad bad decission

Re: New traffic wardens

NCP has been criticised in the past for bonus-related schemes. Two years ago it promised a Vauxhall Corsa worth £12,000 to the warden who imposed the most fines in Westminster, London. Other prizes in the “Champions League” scheme included a £1,500 holiday and a wide-screen television worth £800.

More a case of inducements rather than commision

Re: New traffic wardens

My friend got a parking ticket, went to pick his girlfriend up, came back, parked his car in EXACTLY the same place and got a second ticket 20 minutes later.

Quality, I was laughing for a month.

Exclamation Re: New traffic wardens

HI,

Irrespective of which company is operating the Traffic Wardens, all you need to remember is one thing, if you get a ticket:

Check every single detail on the ticket closely, to make sure it is accurate and correct. If there's anything wrong, more than likely, the ticket (and fine) becomes unenforceable!

This can include, but does not solely limit itself to:
- the registration number of the vehicle
- the vehicle description (e.g. blue Vauxhall Vectra, when it should be blue Vauxhall Cavalier)
- the time and dates on the ticket
- the (alleged) offence for which you have been given the ticket(s)
- any signatures

You may also wish to double-check any signs or notices around the area that you've parked in, as often, some of these are illegal too, and hence, unenforceable.

An excellent site or three, that offers more information (and comedy value, too) can be found here and here and here too!

I think they must have recruitment problems in the Newtonards area, either that or they're being fed in Menary's or taken to the local Naughty Adult Leisure Wear hang out, so to speak. Far better than an Argos points plan
