24 days holiday is now minimum at work?

Hi

I noticed today people were saying that the minimum amount of holidays people can have at work is now 24 starting from 1st October 2007

Here is the link:

http://www.personneltoday.com/Articl...titlement.html

Where I work, I get 22 at the moment

Does this mean I will get 24 now?

Re: 24 days holiday is now minimum at work?

That link you had was before a consultation document. It has changed slightly...
Read HERE

You minimum holiday HAS changed to 4.8 weeks, BUT employers are entitled to include the 8 public (bank holidays) so if you've got a tight git of an employer, it might not change, but a decent one might give extra.

I imagine that most will simply choose to include the bank holidays instead.

Yes, unfortunately for the majority of people this new change means nothing.

I would imagine those already receiving 20 days plus bank holidays will now still receive 20 days plus bank holidays.

How stupid

I guess they put that clause in at the last minute to cave in to employers

Re: 24 days holiday is now minimum at work?

I thought they closed that bank holiday loop hole with this ruling, meaning that you were entitled to 24 days PLUS the bank holidays? Rising to 28 days in 2009.

Re: 24 days holiday is now minimum at work?

The new law was imposed as not everyone gets paid for Bank Holidays, the extra days are to replace those, not in addition.
