Pulse Radio Frequency

Pulse Radio Frequency is a medical treatment that I have to get done on my right shoulder. I've been waiting along time for this and my appointment has just come in.

I've had my fair share of treatments in the past i.e. ultra sound, acupuncture, and other forms of pulse treatments to name but a few.

With this one coming up, I have been informed that the treatment requires a large needle to be inserted in the shoulder area and a small electric current is passed through it. It also requires a local anaesthetic before hand and that I must bring someone with me in order to take me home.

The treatment is supposed to have a lasting effect of around 6 months, where if required you can go back and get it done again. I've been told that I should benefit from the treatment but the condition will keep reoccurring and that I will have to keep going back for this treatment.

I've talked to a few people that claim to have had "something like that done", they all claim that its very painful.

I was wondering if anybody on the forums has had or knows of anyone that has had this treatment done. A few words on what to expect and how they benefited from the treatment would be greatly appreciated.

Or

If you want you could tell me that is unbelievably painful, my arm will fall off and that I'll cry like a big baby when getting it done.

Re: Pulse Radio Frequency

Had all those done when the injury fist occurred, unfortunately I never really benefited from them. I had to start at the beginning and work my way through all the treatments.

Re: Pulse Radio Frequency

Well today was the day, and well, me

OK, basically a needle was stuck in my shoulder and a small electric pulse was put through it for 10 minutes. Well I didn't feel anything with the electric pulse, it was with the needle going in that I turned white.

I was expecting a local anaesthetic, and when he said "I'm going to stick a needle in here you might feel a little prick", I thought no problem. Two seconds later " Tell me when you feel it". , what the Normally when I feel pain I pull away from the source of it, I couldn't. There was pain, and an unnatural feeling that almost scared me worse than the pain because I couldn't get away from it and I didn't fully understand what was happening. I don't know how to explain it. It was like all the nerves in the shoulder had bunched up and the needle was trying to pierce through a wall of them, that I didn't what it to do, cause the further the needle went the more my shoulder felt like it was going to cave in. I sat on a stool for the next 10 minutes frighted to move incase I moved the needle.

I know that it's not as painful as a lot of other medical treatment that people have had to get done, but it was the most painful experience that I've had to go through at a hospital. I have to go back at some stage and get it done again and all I can say is that I'm not looking forward to it, but hey, I should benefit from it in the long run.
