Home Appliances Purchase

Hi All

I've just part exchanged my property with a developer for a new build. Part of the part ex terms are that I have to leave my appliances as follows:

Cooker
Washing Machine
Dishwasher
Fridgefreezer
Tumble Dryer

Apart from the cooker, I've got to purchase the rest new so my questions out to the experts are:

What brands/models would you recommend?
&
With the amount I'm going to be spending where would you recommend purchasing from for a bit of bargining power(cash spend)?

Also I will be having the kitchen, utility room, bathroom and en suite floors tiled. Any recommendations on where to purchase tiles?

many thanks in advance

Steve

Re: Home Appliances Purchase

My experiences with Hotpoint have been disappointing false economies. Even when I have had performance from the warranties (battles in themselves), I would have preferred not to have needed them and I won't buy extendeds. The German stuff has never given me grief.

Re: Home Appliances Purchase

I was thinking no more than £1800 really.... but am prepared to bend some for a good deal.....

I don't know if I'm being realistic with them prices? I am a bit of a snob when it comes to purchases but not sure whether that figure falls into that catergory?

Re: Home Appliances Purchase

Miele, Maytag (all come with good warranties also)

Where in the UK are you, I know someone who is dirt cheap (and I mean dirt) for tiles.

Re: Home Appliances Purchase

A bloke sells them out of a Basildon Safestore.

I bought 30 sqm of tavertine for £280 from him when I did my bathroom in January.

I will get the number from the missus when she wakes up.

Re: Home Appliances Purchase

Anyone use these guys?

http://www.kitchenscience.co.uk/

They look quite good and do a multibuy deal of up to 10% if you buy 3 or more appliances.

The only thing is you guys have got me looking at Maytag which needless to say will blow my budget out of the water

Re: Home Appliances Purchase

Are you a Quidco member? I'm shopping around at the moment, and have found Boots to be amongst the cheapest - most of the cheaper ones I've found are for graded stock.

Boots do 4% cashback with Quidco, plus you get reward card points which works aout at another 4%. I've just checked a few prices against the kitchenscience site, and for one of the ovens I've been looking at (AEG U71014), Boots are £90 cheaper before cashback.

Boots £544

Kitchenscience £633

One of the hobs on my shortlist is only £10 cheaper at Boots though.

Just checked, and Kitchenscience are also listed on Quidco and offer 4% cashback too.

Re: Home Appliances Purchase

Cooker - what type you going for?
Washing Machine - Meile
Dishwasher = Meile
Fridgefreezer - Samsung are just as good as others of your want USA style from what i can tell
Tumble Dryer - Meile

Meile stuff is very expensive though so a total £1800 budget wont work really but if you did have the cash to splash on meile from the stories ive heard they easily last 10 years+

other stuff ive seen last ages is AEG and Bosch

check out www.applianceplanet.co.uk

also checkout www.stonehousetiles.co.uk for cheapish 1st grade tiles not as cheap as 30m sq for under £300 though thats just amazing

Re: Home Appliances Purchase

Cooker - Stoves
Washing machine -Bosch
Fridge freezer - Bosch
Dishwasher -Bosch
tumble dryer - Bosch
but I would make sure they were ones made in a German plant as the quality is better.
Avoid built in other than maybe cooker as they are m,ore expensive ot replace and in the case of a fridge freezer an absolute nightmnare to do so

Re: Home Appliances Purchase

Sorry about the delay, the missus won them in an ebay auction and then we bought the additionals on top.

Their ebay id is homesinstoneoutlet and they are based in Basildon. Very cheap and perfect quality.
