Cash for honours

Not sure if anyone is remotely interested in this but you never know.

I read an excellent article in the Telegraph (see link below). Very balanced and thought provoking and ties in a number of loose ends? TBH, I had been thinking along the same lines myself, hence when I saw it written down (and in the DT) I thought yeah "excellent article"!!

However, what I think it confirms, like anyone needs to say it, poltics is a dirty old game.

Re: Cash for honours

I never thought I'd see the day when I agreed with just about every word in an article under the aegis of the Telegraph - but in this case I do. One of the cynical ironies that this article exposes is that the police try to present the Cash for Honours affair as an example of "nobody being above the law", but when it comes to the killing of Jean Charles de Menezes (and other cases of deaths in custody) the police seem to see themselves as being well above the law.

On a more mundane level, in discussing this matter many commentators seemed unable to distinguish between "cash for honours" which is illegal, and honours for cash, which is not a crime, and as the article says has been a political reality for hundreds of years.

Have to agree with you GBob - what would be very interesting is to see the thoghts ogf the Crown Prosecution Service. What did they make of what the Police actually recommended. Not an awful lot I suspect for 16 months worht of work.

cash for honours hmmm, if you ask me you dont get any kind of honours if you dont have cash. people look upto the rich and down on the poor, money is power and the way of the world

when was the last time you saw a relief worker in the third world get a title?

did beckham really deserve a title? george best didnt and he captained a winning team

Well if we are not going to bring him into it, why do you have to go ahead and make silly statements?

I ran onto tube trains after July 7th and July 21st. Am I stupid too?
