Kitchen Planning Help !!!

I'm trying to plan a kitchen, but obviously hopeless at this.

Right I’ve decided to go for a Wicks take away kitchen, but they only do 1000mm corner units.

The problem I have is that I can't get the unit to fit appropriately due to the large size of the corner units. See attached pic..

In the upper left hand corner I have a wall with pipes going through it,
so would I have to get a kitchen fitter to customize the corner unit?. Also there are unit on the left wall (i.e Sink) which will come out 600mm this only allows for a 200mm cupboard door next to the cooker(which doesn’t exist)

I have a space of 2410mm but can't get units to fit in here appropriately, how does one get these to fit in snugly.

Re: Kitchen Planning Help !!!

Have you looked at MFI? In their sales some of their kitchens are around the same price as the Wickes takeaway ones and they have a better choice of corner units.

new Kitchen. where would you recommend getting one?

Re: Kitchen Planning Help !!!

Does the 1000mm unit on the right hand side need to be a corner unit?

You only put a corner unit in if you are going to attach another unit to it at 90 degrees.

Also remember that the corner unit on the left hand side is only 1000mm on one side.

Re: Kitchen Planning Help !!!

Go to B&Q and say you are interested in one of there kitchens as im sure they do a free planning service. Take the plans away and get the cabinets from Wickes. I fit kitchens but i cant understand what you mean by your drawings

Re: Kitchen Planning Help !!!

I had my kitchen professionally planned but didn't like the layout so got some graph paper and drew up a small scale room, then cut out small scale bits of paper at 1000 600 500 300 widths and stirred them around until I got a layout I was happy with,

It worked for us

B&Q don't let you take the plans away until you have paid for your kitchen now, as too many people were doing exactly that.

Re: Kitchen Planning Help !!!

I'd get my jigsaw out and put the corner cupboard in the corner with the bump out (opposite end to wher it is now) . And work out along the walls from there.

Re: Kitchen Planning Help !!!

It might not work for everyone, but it works for me If you must do it by computer then that program John linked to looks very handy. But I'd still print it all out on computer, then cut it out with scissors and move it all around in real time with your fingers on a piece of graph paper while looking at your room. I defy any PC program to really have better spatial awareness than me or any other home owner *. We went to several places and they all told us what we wanted wouldn't fit. It did

* of course I could be wrong

ahh never thought of fitting the courner cabinets the other way round . Maybe able to get them to fit come how now ....

Do you know if the corner unit can accomdate a sink (will be using a single basin with drainer btw), as this may push the sink too far i.e past the window.

Unlikely - the sliding shelves etc that enable you to store stuff at the back of the corner unit will get in the way of the plumbing.

Re: Kitchen Planning Help !!!

A Corner Unit Usually Has Two Door Openings Which Is Not Needed In This Case So What U Need Is A 1000mm Floor Unit Which Can Have 595mm Door Opening With A 500 Gable Giving U A 100mm Overhang Making It 1100mm Bringing The Unit More Towards The Centre Of The Window.
And Yes It Can Accomodate A Sink No Problem.
