Paper logs to Burn

I have just broken my second paper shredder and am getting fed up with it.

I have seen these gadgets that compress wet paper into bricks/logs that you can just burn in a stove or in one of those chimnea things. Does anyone have any experience of this? Was thinking of getting a heater for the patio and this idea may kill 2 birds with one stone.

I used to have one of these - the heat given off is OK - not enough for a barbecue like some claim. They burn a bit too fast to be useful for heating a house but they are good as kindling, or to mix with logs/charcoal. One warning though - soem of the fumes off the ink aren't very friendly so do be careful if anyone in your household might be sensitive to them (asthma etc.)

Re: Paper logs to Burn

A mate of mine had one of these and said it was crap. It took ages to dry them out properly and when they were dry they didn't burn very well.

Re: Paper logs to Burn

There is a different version whereby you make a newspaper tube and stuff it with combustible material producing a dry ready to burn "log". I don't know if it is any better than the wet version.
