builders builders builders bang crash hit

someone round hearHere!. has just moved in to thereTheir new house. This house was a gorgeous property. Owned for years by two professional people who loved gardening. The garden in bloom was a treat to see all year round there was something nice to see. They really looked after the house. first week the new person moved in. Had landscape gardeners in not to improve the garden but to dig it all out beautiful flowers rose bushes the works in the skip it went. That took a week and very sad to see. Nothing was put in its place. But a climbing frame and a Wendy house. and a fence panel was replaced badly. Second week builders come to do the pointing bang crash bang crash back cement mixer going half seven in the morning.

The normal bits of conversation could heard . "right a bit Fred
Left a bit.. right hand down.. OK Fred woooooooooooo forward a bit... on the whole Fred what do you think? "Do you think as a hole it should be filled or shall we leave it and go for breakfast" Breakfast and a fag Fred ok . Van starts tears of up the road. Hour later Van returns . They have sub woofers in vans now you hear the trowels and number plate rattling with the extreme bass. Left a bit right a bit yeah that will do...

Van now blocking next door drive. She wants to get out take the kids to school and is met with a torrent of "kin hell's. least i think thats what I heard. Van gets moved. But it goes back over the her drive when she goes. She has got to get back in yet. Oh yes every builder must have now loud music music goes up the flasks come out sit on the side of the van another cuppa and in they go bang crash bang cement mixer on all day. a week of this. After they gone you cant really see what they actual was there for in the first place. pew peace at last.......... we think.

Next week the roofers arrive .... of course before roofers can go up they got to have a scaffold lorry and all its operatives arrive. course thereThey're early birds again. so we have three weeks of that. We they gone we think heaven peace. Two guys arrive two more two more there's vans everywhere . Blocking every drive Everest double glazing or someone my goodness.. hearhere! we go again..

How come some of you guys seem to want builders in your homes for 9 hours of each and every day is it because your lonely. you need the company... you need real rough type guys around you love the sun tan and the bare chests. what is it?...

Two

These guys are not doing it for nothing they must all be on £60 a day how do you afford it.

Is there any one out there who can sympathise with this and has the very same. Seriously in our road i counted 8 building projects alone going on.

With these guys about you cant really sit in your own back garden if i do i get time to turn over go on show us your white bits darlin all ones privacy goes all ones quality of life goes. Feel like your public property.

Just a hunch, but could it be they need building work done?

Re: builders builders builders bang crash hit

what is it with neighbours wanting to dictate the way one's property should look like?

I don't think anyone repoints or reroofs the house unless it needs doing. pretty straight forward work needs doing , you call builders round!

Re: builders builders builders bang crash hit

Sorry Lisa, but we have roofers in at the moment! Crash, bang, boooooom (that was a bit worrying!), thud, thud, all accompanied, as you say by blaring radio and 'colourful expletives'.

However, the choice is, for the roof to keep leaking as it did into our bedroom last year - or get it repaired.

On the other issue, the Garden mauling that is one of my top bugbears. Our road used to be lovely, with a tree in every garden, plants everywhere, and as such a sea of colour in the spring summer. The back gardens were much the same. Now, five years after we moved in, several thousand naff gardening programmes later, BS 'advice' from councils playing the 'tree surgeon' con, and all the trees have been un-necessarily felled, the front gardens have all turned into pebble or slab urban desert scenes, and all the backgardens all into 'patio/barbie areas'. Hardly a shred of green (green things of course being long associated with human tranquility and wellbeing) in sight.

And they say the govt is a menace to our individuality! No, it's people who listen sheeplike to the idiots on TV, and cowboy garden firms, who are the biggest contributers to our ever increasing flight to the mediocre, the boring, the uniform on our 'road to urban hell'...................

Phew! Where the hell did that come from!

Sorry had to get that all out. our gripe is Really is. There seems to be two houses in the road all the time that has builders there constantly. I just hope our new neighbour dose not have this fixation. Two doors up its constant always a new tradesmen there. I just hope when they start banging they can at least do it in time.

Lis@~~ who better go and do some work..

Yes hear you.

Big folks were saying similar things. Also you forgot to mention that the front garden now has disappeared to make way for the motor car.

Ha, you should try living next to me. Bang crash wallop 7.30 till midnight or later digging, hitting, shouting, and at the moment the guy and some 'big' mates are putting down the biggest patio i have ever seen, as wide as my garden 55 ft and 25 -30 feet down his 200 foot garden, theres cement mixers, wackers you name it, and i'm sitting in the sun with my mp3 player going and their noise is easily overpowering it. They obviously want it finished before summer but i'm the only near neighbour.

Re: builders builders builders bang crash hit

The noise pollution bit is unacceptable of course, and a friendly warning and apology in advance from the neighbour is good manners and sense, but some people seem feel they can dictate to other houseowners what to do with their houses. Wouldn't do it myself but if somebody feels the need to rip up their garden and slab it - well carry on.

Re: builders builders builders bang crash hit

dont mind if its work going on in the weekdays, majority of folks will be out at work......i know some wont, but a lot of the work going on has to be done at some point........its when people pay them extra to do it weekends....urgh...ok if its emergency work then it cant be helped, but i think there shouldnt be any kind of building work allowed in residential areas on a weekend.....
oh, you will find that because generally houses in a street are all built at the same time, its quite likely that they will need repairing/fixing at similar times too......or if an area goes up in the market pricing then people often try and modernise things at the same time, sometimes to prevent loss of value in case they need a quick sale, other times out of vanity at what the neighbours have done...

as for the greenery thing, im very much in agreement with you there lisa, i guess the front garden thing is not so bad as i'd rather not have cars preventing me crossing the road in safety, but when people destroy most of the back garden too just because they cant be arsed to get out the lawnmower once every week or two its such a shame......as for the trees out front in the streets, unfortunately a lot of councils did a silly thing, they planted trees that grow too tall with long or powerful and large roots, which causes no end of problems, ranging from raised pavements which in our current legal culture means people sueing because they dont look where they walk, to houses suffering subsidence.......i'd rather the trees were kept but in some cases i can see the arguement......however i get annoyed when they use that arguement in areas where its not valid and they just dont want to pay the maintenance costs of keeping the trees in shape.......

You can't please all of the people all of the time.

Some people don't like gardening, or don't have the time to spend gardening. So, if they want to replace it all, they can, they don't need to consult you first

I hate gardening, so leave it all to the gf, and i'm pretty certain, if she also hated gardening, we'd have a straight forward grass lawn.

This is one of lifes big whoppers Knyght_byte m8. Tree roots very rarely cause subsidence, and the soil type and bed rock have to be of a certain type for it to happen at all. As for the tree roots in Pavements, again a nonsense, as where I last lived down South there were huge Maples down one of the roads and the council never touched them. They just amended the local bye-laws making them non-liable as the trees were planted before the current council came into existence. Any Council with half a brain cell can do that. The main reason for tree felling is quite disgusting - they drop untidy leaves. This is the number one complaint about them. So, rather than clean up the leaves they either cut them down or trim them back so hard they kill the tree - and then knock it down.

The other problem, claiming trees roots 'cause damage' is a phantom. So says mein brother. He should know, he's the forestry advisor to the Irish govt.............. The vast majority of trees planted in Urban areas don't have the sort of root systems to do it.

The other big issue of course, is the damage done by the morons who dug the cable trenches. They've done untold damage as major tree roots (the majority of which aren't, in contrast to the foundation damage claims, don't go that deep) were cut and the trees killed.

Nearly everyone that complains about building work being carried out near to them is envious.

I have been in the industry a few years and have seen/heard it all.
