Blocked Ears after Scuba Diving
I've just come back from a fantastic scuba diving trip, but my ears are blocked! It's been a week, and it's driving me mad. It's mainly just the left one, and it's like I have just stepped out of the swimming pool with water in my ears. Does anyone know a quick cure? I know it will probably just sort itself naturally, as it has happened before - but then it took a couple of weeks! I went to the doctor then, but they said there was nothing wrong. I have found "equalising" can help a bit, but not entirely. And I have tried sudafed, swallowing, and hopping! I am currently thinking of going on a run to shake things up a bit, but any other ideas?

Pardon?
stand on your head - use a pillow - and wait for a minute or two whilst chewing something ...... having said that if the ear is blocked with wax pop down to the chemist and get some drops that will harden the wax up and it drops out in a couple of days .....

Re: Blocked Ears after Scuba Diving
I'd go to the doctor again if I were you.
Could be blocked with wax as can happen. In the older days they'd have probably syringed it but I'd guess they'll recommend ear drops now.
Edit - if it is wax I usually use that Otex stuff

If its blocked with wax, then they'll make an appointment with a practice nurse, thats what my GP did.

Re: Blocked Ears after Scuba Diving
Push for the syringe if you can, ear drops are boring compared to teh syringe. Tickles like hell.

Re: Blocked Ears after Scuba Diving
Spin round on the spot 3 times then drink a glass of water from the other side of the glass.
Oh no, thats hiccups!!! Hee hee hee!
I've had the same problem after diving (the SCUBA variety) and it gave me terrible pressure headaches, worse than the migraines I sometimes get. But then I woke up one morning with a soaking wet pillow and no headache. It had just leaked out during the night.

Re: Blocked Ears after Scuba Diving
Eventually, I managed to "equalise" my left ear last night, and that has fixed it. I can hear again! Thanks everyone for the suggestions
It's a noisy world isn't it? I can't hear myself think today.
