Check up on your MP

This is one of the best web sites I've seen for a long time. Type in your postcode and then see how your local MP is performing. Track their attendance and how they voted. Check registered interests and submitted expenses.

http://www.theyworkforyou.com/

You voted the bugger in, now see what they are doing for you

Check up on your MP here:
He/she is a self-serving, over opinionated, egotistical, arrogant s-o-b who will use/abuse his/her position for self aggrandissment self enrichment and nepotism. He/she will use their position to curry favour with the rich and powerful and will drop their constituents at a moments notice when they are offered a well paid job only on the basis of who they know in Government rather than their total lack of ability to do anything useful.
There, that saved you clicking the link above.

Yes but...

The link XOD provided though goes into much more detail on exactly how they have shafted us and how much it has cost us for the privilige.

Also there is a picture of our MP on the site...so I least I know what she looks like now, as that was the first time I have seen her !

Thumbs up Re: Check up on your MP

Hi,

Xusia - Thanks for the link!

This is my MP's current status - and it's not good!
- Has never voted on a transparent Parliament.
- Moderately against introducing a smoking ban.
- Very strongly for introducing ID cards.
- Moderately for introducing student top-up fees.
- Moderately for Labour's anti-terrorism laws.
- Very strongly for the Iraq war.
- Strongly against investigating the Iraq war.
- A mixture of for and against the fox hunting ban.
- Has spoken in 7 debates in the last year — well below average amongst MPs.
- Has received answers to 10 written questions in the last year — below average amongst MPs.
- Has voted in 68% of votes in parliament — below average amongst MPs.

Sounds a complete t*ss*r to me, (so no change there then)!

Anyone else care to list what there local MP is like, and see if we can maybe find the most useless of the lot?! Maybe we could have a sort of AV Forums "hitlist".

Re: Check up on your MP

Actually despite looking a little like Alan B'Stard in his heyday, mine has turned up reasonably often, asked some interesting questions and is vehermently opposed to ID cards. Still, he's new from the last election so I imagine it will take him a bit longer to become a waste of blood and organs.

Re: Check up on your MP

Here's mine, how do they get away with it ??

Has never voted on a transparent Parliament.

Moderately for introducing a smoking ban.

Moderately against introducing ID cards.

Strongly against introducing foundation hospitals.

Strongly against introducing student top-up fees.

Moderately against Labour's anti-terrorism laws.

Very strongly for the Iraq war.

Very strongly for investigating the Iraq war.

Moderately against the fox hunting ban.

Strongly against equal gay rights.

Has spoken in 18 debates in the last year — below average amongst MPs.

Has received answers to 931 written questions in the last year — well above average amongst MPs.

Replied within 2 or 3 weeks to 73% – 100% of messages sent via WriteToThem.com during 2005, according to polling data — well above average amongst MPs.

Has voted in 60% of votes in parliament — well below average amongst MPs. (From Public Whip) (Nice to know I'm well represented in parliment when key issues are voted on!!!)

And for all that is cost us £122,616 in expences

If it were any other job than an MP you would have been fired a long time ago.

It must be that clarity of principles that makes them more suitable to be MPs than the rest of us.

Yeah Pooch, yours sounds rubbish! What I want to know is that there is a company called Flying Lion Ltd which seems to pay for an awful lot of air transport...but when you Google them you get absolutely no information about them. Who are they?

Re: Check up on your MP

Nice one.

Also nice is the absence of the standard "Does not apply in Northern Ireland" clause which we see on the bottom of soooooo many car / house insurance ads, Google Maps (insufficient detail), mortgage deals etc...

I now know what my MP look like plus they are going to be covering the Assembly. Neat.
