Ad at Liverpool/Chelsea Semi-Final Last Night

Watching the interviews after the Liverpool Chelsea game last night I was interested to see the ads on the board behind the people being interviewed. There were about 8 names repeated all over the board. The Sony name was up there and so was Playstation 2 - which I thought was odd considering that with the release of PS3, Sony wasn't promoting it. I know PS2 is still selling by the bucket load, but why not take the opportunity with millions watching of getting behind your new games console/blu-ray player?

I thought it was playstation3... might have just read it wrong though, i wasn't paying much notice.

Anyhow these sponsor deals were done last season for the champions league, rather than the individual clubs. From what i know the pitch side boards are ran by uefa, and the deals done at the start of the competition.

Yep, it occurred to me too that the deal was done last season. However, it was definitely the PS2 that was promoted on the board the people stand in front of when they have their post-match interviews.

Just watched Sir Alex on Sky Sports News ahead of tonight's game and he was appearing with the same board advertising PS2 and Sony among others. No doubt PS3 boards are appearing pitch side, but the one after the game is definitely still PS2.

Yes, PS2 for the interviews, but I think the PS3 was on the billboards at the edge of the pitch during the game.

PS2, which of course still sells more units than its successor!
