Thumbs up Driving to Disneyland Paris

For anyone pondering driving.....

Just got back from four nights there But this was the first time we drove. I have always been a bit hesitant on doing this, but i have to admit it was far less stressful than going by eurostar. No bags in a cab, then out at waterloo, then onto the train, then off, then hefting them into a bendybus to get to the hotel...strewth that`s a pain in the ass for sure. Going by car, you load up once and go. From Calis (via the 20 euro toll) takes three and a bit hours. So for us door to door was about five hours. Not at all bad considering the big train costs just over £100 for the car. The actual drive is very straight forward too, with only a couple of wobbly bits going around Paris.

Anyway, i just thought i`d post this for those of you, who like me were a little put off by the drive

Re: Driving to Disneyland Paris

I'd always drive.
France has some lovely scenery, on a par with the UK, IMO

Re: Driving to Disneyland Paris

Having been on the wrong end of a French train strike on the day of our return from Disneyland Paris, I vowed I would only ever go back there if we drive. Taking the train was hell.

Thanks for the tip - I have actually driven into the resort from Paris but that was on a training course for work (at marne la valee) and that wasn't too bad. It's just the long drive from the channel that I'm not that keen on, but it's got to be better than public transport, esp with kids.

Re: Driving to Disneyland Paris

We went to Eurodisney a few weeks ago and also drove. Went with 2 cars, 3 satnavs (My Navman, and my friend's Tom Tom plus his built-in Mercedes one), and a pair of walkie talkies. Great fun. The driving was tremendous fun with the walkies, ganging up on the french drivers by speaking to each other and holding up the fast lane so that we can pull in front of each other. (Mobile phones ain't legal while driving but walkie talkies are. Go figure. ).

With the satnavs it was so simple to get there and to even avoid the inevitable traffic jams when we left on the Sunday. They also helped us not miss the ferry thanks to their ETA features. (In fact we caught an earlier return one than was planned because we put our foot down on the way home.

Oh, and Disney was fun too. But I'll save that for another thread.
