I happen to like a lot of film soundtracks, particularly those by Ennio Morricone, for example.
But so many albums don't have all the music cues specifically used in the film or they are in the wrong order, or are imply different.
I recently got the soundtrack for "Orca". It does not have the main piece of music used in the opening credits of the film. Sure it has every permutation of it, but that's not what I wanted.
Same with the "Wild Geese" soundtrack by Roy Budd. There's a specific piece in the film after the mercenaries have successfully rescued Julius Limbani and are leaving the army base they've just raided in trucks. The music is great but is conspicuously absent from the soundtrack LP.
The "Robocop" OST SE has not got the main march as it appears on the end credits. How, why? It's the definitive track of the film.
I recently "acquired" a special edition of James Horner's soundtrack for Star Trek 2. It boasted additional tracks, but this turned out to be audio ripped directly from the DVD, with the dialogue removed
Here's an example "Kill Admiral Kirk".
It's very frustrating
I have a copy of the soundtrack for "The Keep" by Tangerine Dream. Over 75% of the music is not featured in the current cut of the film.
Does anyone else find matter exasperating?
Mind you, I did managed to finally track down the OST to "Hundra" which is possible the most obscure Morricone work I've obtained.
For your enjoyment a piece titled "Chase" from the obscure sword and sorcery film "Hundra".
