You need to speak to this man - I'm sure he'll do you a good deal on his family run hotel in Southport

is that the one in manchester that has (or used to have) a club beneath it....and the windows in the hotel rooms are filled with images of the New York skyline so that you can't actually see outside?

That's the one.
The bar stays open all night and you can get some cheap rooms.....or some good offers on some of the suites.
I'm not sure what you mean about the NY skyline though?

when I used to stay there...the windows had photos of New York stuck in them...it may have just been rooms with bad natural views!

The last time I stayed there, they only had a room with no windows left, but who cares, it was about £40, right in the middle of Manchester........and best all we stayed in the bar till about 5am.
I've stayed in one of the 4 poster suites there, which quite nice, i think that was about £80-£90.
Anyway, I don't think the OP wants to stay in central Manchester. Britannia do hotels in Southport and Man' airport and Blackpool.

No idea what you're after but if you get a chance to I recommend staying in the Hilton on Deansgate in Manchester. It's lovely.

If anyone is staying in Mcr, then stay at one of these, in order of my preference: The Hilton The Lowry Hotel
The Radisson Edwardian Manchester
Malmaison
