Tag Heuer,watch stopped working.

Having had faultless performance from both my Tag's i purchased one for Mrs lynx around 8 months ago.Yesterday it stopped working.Does anyone know the procedure to obtain service? Should it be returned to the authorised supplying dealer (over 100 miles from my home) or is there another alternative such as local service centres?

Re: Tag Heuer,watch stopped working.

Whenever I've needed mine servicing or the battery replacing, it's always gone back to the official service centre in Manchester. It's not been cheap (but then neither is the watch) but I've always preferred the reassurance of having them look at it with the cover that brings.
At the end of the day it's still only a watch so I've no doubt any half decent watch repairers could look at it (a mate took his to the watch doctor place in the local shopping centre) but I would imagine any reputable jewellers would want to send it away anyway.

Re: Tag Heuer,watch stopped working.

i have a reasonably expensive Tissot , it stopped i took it to a place in our local shopping centre and the guy completely the back of the watch up trying to open it.
i took it to an expensive jewellery shop and the guy their said he wouldn't touch it but he would send it back to Tissot
so send it back ,and save yourself some grief

Re: Tag Heuer,watch stopped working.

I gave my Alexandre Christie watch to my local jeweller to get the battery changed. He had to send it away and charge me to have it replaced & re-sealed. When it came back the second hand and the 0.1 second hands for the stopwatch features were not 'set' so every time I use my stopwatch and press the reset button they returned to these 'odd positions'. I took it back and they said they would send it back to find out why. The following week I was told that the reason the two hands were not returning to the top was that there was a common fault with the watch which would cost about £50-60 to put right. So I just walked out the shop thinking I'll just live with it.

Now were they right or is it just 'bull' and the shop didn't want to send it off a second time at their expence? I even asked why they couldn't just manually move the two hands to point to the top but they just said you couldn't.

Re: Tag Heuer,watch stopped working.

Any probs with them just take it to your local authorised dealer, they should send it back to Tag for repair.

In turn you should get a guarantee card from Tag for the repair.

Should still have guarantee if you got it 8 months ago

Lol. My Tag is automatic - love the sweep but time keeping is awful! Lose about 5 minutes a month - well within the Tag allowance of +- 7 minutes Tag accept for non chrono's!

Anyway take to Tag to authorised jeweller and they will sort for you. Especially as in warranty. Be warned Tag service is NOT lightening! Could be 9-10 weeks before you get it back.

Re: Tag Heuer,watch stopped working.

There are a couple of authorised Tag dealers within 20 miles, if one of them can assist with repair i'll leave it with them to arrange.

Hi Mate

Definitely take it to an approved repairer, don't give it to any scally jewellers

For a premium brand I allways admired TAG but what I am hearing is shocking.

A watch losing 5mins a month is NOT ok. That's an hour per year I suppose it saves you putting the clocks back but they are really takin' the mick, the very cheapest TAG is about £400. I'd expect a watch costing over £400 to not need to be corrected every month.

"Servicing is not cheap and takes 9-10 weeks" They are taking you all for mugs!

And a watch that stops after 8 months should be repaired free of charge.

I allways wanted a proper TAG but could never afford one. I did buy a replica for about £5 in Turkey which has worked for 4 years without a problem. It looks like I got the better watch.

Actually not bad for an auto. An auto is a watch will a soul...a little engine on your wrist, perfect timekeeping is not the point of it. You either understand this or not.

Re: Tag Heuer,watch stopped working.

My missus bought me an Armani watch about 6yrs back as an anniversary present (think it was about 300 sheets)

Battery has just given out after 6yrs! took it to it to nearest Armani dealer and had new battery fitted for £6.

I'd deafinitelllyty recommend the brand

Re: Tag Heuer,watch stopped working.

The problem with tag watches is the mechanics are so cheap that sometimes the fakes use original tag components. Sorry to say but you really are paying for the name and not quality.

Your Armani watch is a dress watch which is probably not waterproof.
Tag Heuer watches on the otherhand are all waterproofed to at least 200m hence the extra outlay because the seals may need replacing when the back cover is removed then the watch is then pressure tested.

Get your Tag mended at the autherized place in Manchester off the top of my head there's a 2 year warranty on Tag watches

Wait until you spend £4,500 on a watch and need to correct it every other day.

I seriously doubt that. I'm not the biggest fan of Tags [a Breitling fan myself ]but I don't belive that cheap Chineese copies use the same components as Swiss made movements...

Plus as mentioned above Tags are waterproof and the seals etc all add to the cost. Another thing is that when I went to Hong Kong I seen some very good and expensive [for a copy] Tag replicas, but they just have a look about them that says 'Fake'...

OK, not cheap Chineese ones, but some do. Many fakes use the Swiss ETA movement which anyone can buy http://www.tztoolshop.com/page112.html - they are not exclusive and TAG, along with most other mid price watchmakers use this exact same movement. The difference between a good fake [£100] and a genuine [£1000] will be in all the other details: bracelet, crown, waterproofing, casing, etc.

My husband bought me a tag watch last Christmas. I do not shower or wash dishes with it on however, condensation got inside which then affected the movement. I brought the watch to the shop where it was bought and was told that it was under guarantee and shouldn't be a problem. They have rang me today to say that it will cost £200 to fix as it has suffered "a blunt force trauma to the 7 dial" now there is no scratches or anything to indicate this. Am I being taken.....?
