Didn't see it - I'm presuming it wasn't "paradise by the dashboard light"??

No, it was more 'for crying out loud'.

Re: Meatloaf on The Royal Variety Performance....
It was horrendous, akin to 'that' performance from Meg Ryan on Parkinson.
I used to be a huge fan of the loaf, when they announced him tonight I lept for the Tivo. Needless to say, I'm currently feeling somewhat deflated.

Now more of a 'meatball'
He wasn't the only dire performer or performance either.

Yes it was awful, but then so was Barry Manilow, god that man has had so much plastic surgery and botox, the only thing that moved on his face was his flapping lips, not one once of expression could be seen.

Re: Meatloaf on The Royal Variety Performance....
Was it my imagination or did Ken Dodd make an appearance?
I thought he was dead

Re: Meatloaf on The Royal Variety Performance....
Hi,
Ken Dodd did indeed appear, and in fact, was actually very funny, as he made lots of self-deprecating jokes about his previous offence of diddling the VAT men out of rather a large sum of tax!

Re: Meatloaf on The Royal Variety Performance....
The only trouble is, is that Ken Dodd has been doing those jokes for yrs ! Oh and a Simon and Garfunkel joke ?!!? not exactly topical :-)
but for us........how cringey was the Irish comic ? "willy on the neck" and "dying rabbits" wasn't the best material. Then the Avenue-Q bit to Charles was very uncomfortable too. Mrs Thistle-t.w.a.t was the Queen ?!!?!!

No, that's for sure! 'What a shower' was my comment afterwards........... and yes that Irish comic was distinctly lame. Rod Stewart, the reason the wife bullied me into watching it, confirmed what we've all suspected - his voice is shot.

Re: Meatloaf on The Royal Variety Performance....
It was Jason Byrne
I like "alternative comedy" in the main, but this was just not the time or the place !
