Windows Add or Remove Programs

Windows Add or Remove Programs

This is a bit silly really, but I have a program listed in the 'Add or Remove Program' list, but which is no longer on my hard drive.

For the sake of tidyness is there anyway of removing it from the list?

You can edit the registry using regedit if you are comfortable doing that.

If you click on remove, it should ask you if it wants you to delete the item when it fails to uninstall (on Windows XP)

on older versions, tweakui did that

Look at you giving computer advice

I had a look at Tweak UI last night after having a look at the MS website, but couldn't see an option for the 'Add or Remove Programs' despite the instructions on their web site.

Am I missing the obvious?

This very almost worked. It changed the program on the list from being able to try and uninstall it to where it just stated it was 'rarely' used.

In the end I just did a Control F find in the registry and deleted all reference to that program. Seems to have gone now, but wouldn't like to say if my PC will boot up again through the amount of stuff I deleted.
