While I understand the negative C2 comments, the target consumer is the drinker who does not want to get drunk. Given this, I've tried it as an alternative to shandy and think it does the job

I'm more interested in the fact that the pub closes at 11.20 so I need some of the old wife beater to make it worth going in the first place.

Having worked in the Stella brewery at Magor, Wales, yes.
Which is why I always buy Belgian in cans (I mostly drink in the house)
It's an entirely different taste.
I know what you're saying and don't disagree.
But we mostly drink alcohol for a reason, ie to get the desired effect.
I know I've had a drink with Stella, but not with Carling.
I have never had a hangover with Stella, but I certainly have when I've been forced to buy Carling.
When I have my coinosseurs (sp) hat on, I'm partial to a drop of Marstons

in the offtrade only. Carling is Actually the UK best selling by by a large margin if you count both on and off trade by volume.

C2 is a deliberately low strength Carling variant. It's not a low calorie beer it's a low alcohol beer

Exactly. I like Stella and 1664 - in Belgium and France! The English brewed stuff is rank.

My guess is the offtrade massively outnumbers the ontrade, but of course, I'm happy to be corrected in which sells the most.
I'm going off paper reports and such like, when I say Stella is the better seller.
Everywhere sells Carling, but not Stella.
My guess is that's for a reason.
The reasons being, Carling is easy to keep and incentives are good.

Carling is brewed by Coors (ex Bass in Burton), isn't it?
I've worked there too.
Having seen both sides, I'll stick with Stella.
Coors is a doghole compared to the Stella brewery, IMO.
