Abandoned Car Help

Hi

Just after some help guys.

At my company we have a large yard and private car park. On Saturday morning a car appeared in the car park which does not belong to anyone here. It is all unlocked and has some slight damage to the front end. It's not an old car and in reasonable condition apart from the slight damage.

We have been onto the police, who were of no help at all. They basically said because it's on private property they don't want to know. But now we have reported it we also can't move it out on to the public road.

What are we supposed to do with it? Can we flog it for parts? I could imagine getting a few quid for the bits on Ebay.

Thanks
Greg

Re: Abandoned Car Help

well the council will take it away for you, there should be a number on their website. Or you could try ringing the DVLA and ask for the registered keepers details then send them an invoice for storage £100 a day should do it...

Re: Abandoned Car Help

Kill some vagabond or other valueless member of society and put them in the boot.
Then the police will remove it free of charge.

Re: Abandoned Car Help

Are the police useful for anything these days? Set the car on fire and when they come running say that you are having a private bonfire and to mind their own business...

This must mean that it has not been reported stolen, so you either clamp it, and charge the owner when they show up (which is not likely) OR call the council and they can take it away.

Or slip a pair of gloves on, and push it out onto the public road in the middle of the night, and blame "those damn hoody kids must have been mucking about with it last night"

Re: Abandoned Car Help

Slap a notice on it stating that if the car is not claimed within 7 days it will be moved to a better home. Then stick it on ebay. Finders keepers!

Re: Abandoned Car Help

This happens in my car park regularly

First time it happened i called the Police to see if they could get it moved for me only for them to ask if i had a van? Yes i said, well just use your van to push it off your land was the advice i was given
