Who's the best ISP at the moment

As header, i'm with Zen currently, but at £34.99 per month for unlimited use, i'm sure some providers can better this.

Any ideas folks ??

2mb service.

Re: Who's the best ISP at the moment

I have been with AOL for the last 8 years, one connection at work, one at home, can't fault them, i know people slag of there software, but at the end of the day you don't have to use it, just the connection. we have a 8mb connection at work £34.99 a month unlimited downloads, and a 1mb connection at home for £17.99 unlimited, but most of the time its at over 2mb.

Cheers

JOHNNY

Re: Who's the best ISP at the moment

I've been with Nildram for 3 and a half years now, and I can't fault them. I've had to ring tech support 3 times in that period, and they've always got the problem sorted for me (twice at my end, once at theirs) within 2 hours - including on a Saturday.

They're a little more than some, but they certainly back it up with excellent performance and support.

Re: Who's the best ISP at the moment

It's the same old quality vs quantity issue. There are plenty of cheaper deals out there but it seems you need to be "lucky" to find them beneficial. I'm also with Zen but would be very reluctant to change. Last year I went through the exercise of evaluating ISPs for my mother. After much research I went for Freedom2surf at £14.99/month for 2mbs/2Gb. Great - for about 6 weeks when they were swallowed up by Pipex. Poor speeds, frequent downtime, non-existent support, etc., etc.

If you can live with 20Gb/month you could knock a tenner off your monthly bill with Zen's 8mbs Max Active package.

I used to be with Pipex who were excellent until they started capping.

I am now with Demon 2mb uncapped and I think I pay £21.99 (I don't do the bills)

Re: Who's the best ISP at the moment

My son recommended me to use Zen when I first had a computer (five years ago). I pay £24.99 a month Home 500. "Which" magazine placed them at No.l.

My husband, who rarely uses the computer, said we should look for a cheaper option but I dug my heels in and said it's worth paying the extra. Nearly all my friends have changed their ISPs several times through bad service. I have never had any problems with them. When I first started I rang them a few times with problems (turned out it was my lack of computer skills!). They went to a lot of trouble and time to help. Their monthly newsletter is always very interesting too. I'm staying with them.

Re: Who's the best ISP at the moment

While AOL are a good ISP atm (one of the few unlimited ISP's without a FUP), they are in the process of being bought by CPW, so be very wary about joining AOL
