I read a thread on HD DVD and Blu-Ray Players titled: 'question about war between hd-dvd and blu-ray' which if you're not familiar with that bit of the forum, has had numerous debates and arguments over this topic. Although the OP's question seemed a little incoherent at first a response by member ianh64 sort of sumed it all up and at the same time brought me to tears laughing. Heres the quote:

I believe that a winner will be chosen on 31st December. Whoever has made the most money will win. HD-DVD will have the most money but blu-ray will claim that even though they have less money it is better quality money so is worth more. The format race will be declared null and void, except by Sony who will claim that a final decision will be postponed for another 3 months.
