That flashing Telewest ad is driving me mad

I don't mind ads on this site, as they're probably essential to survival financially.

This morning whichever forum I visited that "in your face" flashing ntl ad was so irritating and intrusive I had to go off the site and browse Amazon for a bit.

I normally leave any site that has this type of ad as it makes concentration impossible and spoils the pleasure of reading the posts.

Thumbs down Re: That flashing Telewest ad is driving me mad

Hi,

I concur! Ad gives me a headache, and can't be healthy for people to look at on computer monitors! Please will you replace it Stuart, or tell TeleWest to get their act together?! Cheers!

What ad?

It's not hard to block every ad on the net. I've posted the advice enough times. Do a search, and quit your complaining

I just think it's rubbing us long-term Telewest customers faces in the proverbial.

£30 for tv, telephone, & broadband for NEW customers only! while us existing customers have to pay nearly triple that.

I'd like to still display the ads to support AVForums, and I don't mind them being there when they are unobtrusive, plus some of them are actually useful on this forum.

Some of the ads are helpful, only the flashing ones irritate.

It would be nice if people offering advice did so in a pleasant manner.

Partyweb, I didn't realise Telewest was so expensive and often regretted we didn't have cable here. It's so maddening that the new customers get the perks, it wasn't so when we joined Sky a very long time ago.

Just give it a go

I am now on ntl 10mb for £17.49 a month rather than £35 a month, because I threatened to leave (as have many thousands of others)

Re: That flashing Telewest ad is driving me mad

On the side of my browser there is a scroll bar which lets me scoll down and hides the offending advert

Ads on this site are important as it keeps it free. However Telewest and Sky ads through my door drive me mad. I must get at least 1 everyday. I dread to think what proportion of the worlds rainforests they alone are destroying!

Absolutely. Consider this - it may be driving you mad, but you know the company behind it - and isn't that what advertising is about ?

I know Stuart is aware it's annoying some people, but to the best of my knowledge, it's not going to be around forever (maybe only this month).

Partyweb, the 30 quid offer is for basic phoneline, broadband and tv. I got it a while ago when I moved into my new place. It is now about £35 a month after the deal has ended. I'm assuming you must have the all singing all dancing options which I used to but decided was a waste of money. The "basic" broadband is 2mb, more than enough for me and I never watched all those extra channels.
