Re: My website

Home Work Rest Play
Welcome to My Celina, this is a website for all my stuff, for my friends to use, and anybody else who is interested really. My name is Celina (if you haven't already guessed), I've been in England now for over 2 years and I orginally come from South Africa, Cape Town to be precise. I have a rubbish job, and live in a crappy town, and I pretty much think England is poo, but on the bright side I met my husband to be here. Together we designed this site, feel free to poke around or drop us an email.

not a nice thing to say,

Re: My website

I think i'd rather live in England than South Africa TBH?

Daily risk of carjacking, rife crime, having to live like a prisoner with bars across all my windows? No thanks :

If you think England has racial tension issues, you've never been to SA!

Re: My website

Regarding the website the main page has different size fonts to the rest of the pages.

The main logo could be placed to the right of the menu. On the line that fades! This would take some of the white space out.

Re: My website

Nice web-site, but there are worse places to live in the UK then Ipswich. I'd imagine that Ipswich is quite nice compared to, lets say, somewhere like Grimsby

Now, now ... the lady did ask for comments on the website not her views on where she lives.

So being kind, I pretty much think the site is poo

Re: My website

no offence, but personal websites / blogs or whatever you want to call them, of ordinary folks and with no business, political or journalistic purpose are just pointless, vacuous, vanity projects that nobody in their right mind would ever want to visit.... - especially when you're slagging off England as 'poo' just because you have a crap job in a crap town

Apart from the negative comments about my country (typical of an immigrant and I take it you won't be using our NHS service if you are ill, or claiming any benefits) why on earth would anybody visit your site.

There's nothing on it.

Little info of no interest to anybody but yourself and your poor (not in a monetary sense) husband to be.

Good luck and all with your wedding. Hope you'll be both very happy in South Africa. No doubt hubby will be back in a couple of years.

Okay, sorry if i offended anyone. Maybe i'm just home sick, haven't been home in 2 years, going back this xmas though. I do miss the sun and hate queuing, and I don't understand what people from cornwall are actually saying. Anyways, for me this website isn't pointless, as it's just my first try at one. As for 2.6GB of RAM, you must learn to read boy, it says 12.6GB, 8GB onboard 4.6GB virtual, i'm gearing up for Vista, as XP only goes upto 4GB. But thank you for all your comments, constructive or not
Feel free to leave extended comments in my forum

So you crossed out the part about England being poo, and have inserted
"I think people in England are really mean, and that's saying something coming from a South African"
When you go home at Christmas, please don't come back!

Wow lots of negative comments on here!

The lady just wanted to know what people thought of her website and wanted some tips from people. Who cares that she wrote "england is poo" god dont be so uptight. Im a native englishman and dont take offence that she has wrote that at all! Its just her opinion... everyone is entitled to one!

Re: My website

Well, I suppose we live in a free country with the right to say anything you want to but, it's a bit naive to ask a group of people their opinion on your web-site, knowing that you've denigrated their country on it - were most of them not supposed to notice? I suppose it would be like me going to a SA forum, having lived in a small SA town for a year, then saying btw I think all South African's are rude, mean and your country is rubbish, based on that one town I've lived in (which I think you've done with Ipswich), and then expecting +feedback. I don't think you'd be saying the same thing if you lived in one of our bigger cities, like London. As for a crappy job, I can think of a lot worse jobs then working in a call center. In my town, most jobs are unskilled, factory ones and I'd bet most of the people working in them would love to work where you do.

On the other hand, I also agree with addyb, maybe the time is right to lay off now. It is hard moving to and living in a different country and I wouldn't want you to think all people in England are mean just because of one web-site forum. It would be very silly to generalise like that wouldn't it?

As for the web-site, it is nice, not too badly designed, but I can't see a reason for someone to visit it again unless people are friends with you or know you. But if that's its purpose then fair enough.

Well said indeed!

And working in a call centre is one of the worst jobs ive ever had and ive even done factory work! You are all like battery hens and the strictness is unbelievable (well it was in the one i worked in!) It was like being back at school!
But i agree there are far worse jobs out there!

Talking Re: My website

Thank you all for your comments, maybe I am generalizing too much, and I think the comment about being uptight is valid. I have lived in Dunwich, Reeding, Lowestoft, London briefly (too busy) and finally Ipswich. Maybe when I return at Christmas I'll remember why I left. I guess there are worse things than working in a call center. As for previous comments, I have an EU passport as I’m half Portuguese. I thank the people who commented on the style, maybe I got that right, but the content needs some work; if anybody has any ideas, let me know, I was thinking of making some more flash source available, I have some interesting stuff I’m working on at the moment for my PSP. It's time to draw this thread to a close, thank you everybody. X P.S. One thing I do like about you Brits, is you do make me laugh

What...the Bromley accent.

I think the South African accent is superb, never tire of hearing it.
