Yeah just phone BT and ask them.

I had this problem when i moved from wanadoo to BT took them 3 weeks to remove the marker even though it was their fault as they cancelled my account for no apparant reason(not even them knew why they had cancelled the account)

Re: how can i check if my phone line has been released from my old ISP?

I agree it can be a flippin' nightmare - when we moved in to our new house, it took about 2 months to get our broadband transferred as they wouldn't release the line to us. And I was passed from pillar to post by the various companies trying to get an answer.

Im the end I had to insist Virgin (our Broadband provider) speak with BT direct to get it sorted. Unfortunately I can't remember their telephone number, but I think the main BT customer services dept. gave me it.
