No - sorry.....but I have used the Central line many times and that stretch you mention is fast compared to the rest of my journey (which used to be Woodford Green to Chancery Lane).

Re: any London underground train drivers on hear

I haven't been a regular on the underground for some time but I remember the Piccadilly Line always used to belt it from Manor House down to Finsbury Park.

Re: any London underground train drivers on hear

Not quite related to the original thread but this site all about abandoned and "ghost" stations on the Underground is an interesting read.

Re: any London underground train drivers on hear

I would be suprised if they ever reached more than 60 miles per hour ...even if they were capable of doing 75. not sure though

Re: any London underground train drivers on hear

You are correct, Reign-Mack. The maximum speed on the Underground is around 60 mph; the average speed is 20 mph.

The speeds partly depend on when the lines were built and the distances between stations. Newer lines, such as the Victoria Line, allow trains to run faster because the stations are further apart.

London Underground trains are higher geared than National Rail, so they can accelerate from a standing stop far more quickly, as well as stopping far more quickly.

A strange fact: did you know that most of the Underground is not actually underground…?
