Virus Stopping me Loading Windows

Due to my pal running version 5 of Norton and not bothering to update he seems to have got a virus.

THe PC seems to be loading normally but when it gets to the WELCOME screen it reboots. It does this continually.

I'm figuring some sort of virus has got into the Startup. I've got a ton of ideas on how to get rid but they all rely on me loading windows first. So, how do i get rid of it as I cant get into Windows to run anti-virus software?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Sleepy

Re: Virus Stopping me Loading Windows

as the machine starts to boot keep tapping F8 until a menu appears on the screen, from the menu select safe mode, this should allow you to get into windows as it only loads the absolute bare essentials to get windows running so should hopefully not load the virus.

Re: Virus Stopping me Loading Windows

I'm currently sitting here slapping myself for being so dumb, I used F8 just the other week.

Thanks All
