I AM STILL ALIVE!!!!
We got to Lewknor, nr Oxford... and drove around for a while trying to find this farm @ 7.50am... an off road track made me wish I took the wife's car instead!
Other members of the group arrived slowly, and by 9am we were ready for a briefing.
I was so surprised that the parachute bag has technology inside it! Made us all feel so much more comfortable. Basucally its a computer chip and a digital alto-meter which senses how far up (or down) you are, and if the parachute hasn't been pulled by 1900 ft, then it opens up automatically.
Phew!
My wife and I decided to get our jumps filmed... £98 each ... ouch! Does it get anymore painful?! ha Thought it would be worth it though... as I know my better half would not do this crazy stunt again!
We were 4th in line to go airborne out of the '[team] Guide Dogs' group, and other people were also scheduled to go up in between.
To see people falling out of the sky for the very first time was a very weird moment ... it just isn't normal! I'm glad we weren't in the middle of a war!
I deliberated for a while whether I should have a nice greasy cheeseburger from the portable kitchen... and around 11am decided it was needed!! ...with extra onions! (It was yum!) A packet of Prawn crackers and a couple of mini chocolate bars later, I felt it was time to get up there!!
1pm came, and I got all strapped up in the harness, gloves on, and skimpy helmet & goggles to hand.
We were in a dinky lil airvan...
the 7 of us were airbone!!
Wifey, Me, Instructor each, cameraman each, and a solo jumper.
We got attached to our tandem pro in the plane and had a laugh and a joke ... these guys are really wacky and so much fun!!
I wasn't nervous or scared at all... not one bit!! But when the door opened up at 10,000 ft and I could see the clouds and the ground below them ... I gulped! It's lot clearer than through the windows!
The solo jumper flew herself out of the plane, and kinda was out of control as she flipped onto her back, not an ideal position to be in and then she was out of sight... hope Emma was ok!
My turn!! The instructor was standing on the edge of the plane, and as I was attached to the front of him, I was dangling out in the sky! I had to be reminded that the camera was looking at me, as I was in awe...
We pushed ourselves out of the plane, and I remember to cross my arms close to my chest, tilt my head back, arch backwards, and cross my feet up behind me. It beats any roller-coaster!!!! There was a feeling of "OH MY GOD!!" ...
I tried to smile for the camera but it is very hard to at that altitude!!
I put my arms to the side and forward (in right angles) and were flying!!!
Spun around a few times, and then I got the tap on my shoulder...
THE TIME HAD COME!!
... for the FREE FALLING SKYDIVE!
My arms went forward, and we rocketed straight through the clouds and straight down...
...I was finally
Superman!!
This was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!
The memory will last with me forever.
The parachute was pulled ... and I kind of wished the freefalling would've lasted longer! I was pulled back abit with the force, and the pure speed of the skydive was changed to very slow motion as we were suspended in the sky.
I could see my wife in the sky in the distance...
I took control of the toggles, and duly did one spiral turn to the right, then one to the left, and two to the right again continuously.
The pro took control of the parachute when we finally headed towards earth, and to land us safely and in the correct spot.
I THOROUGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!
...and I wanna do it again!
For various other reasons not all jumpers could do their jump, so there will be another group doing it in the very near future, so the fundraisining page stays live.
You can continue to sponsor the GDBA, its all for a good cause in the end ... helping the blind people with these cute lil doggies!

Plus my wife was VERY brave and deserves more funds being raised!
