Can you spare 3 minutes of your time... please?

Hi,

I'm not a prolific poster but I've been on here for a while now and I hope nobody thinks it a bit cheeky of me to post this...

In my spare time I write, perform, and record my own music and until recently I'd never done anything with it except record it onto tape and put it in a cupboard. However, over the last couple of years I've been recording some instrumental music which my fiancee told me I should make available (not that she's biased or anything ;-) ). I listened to it with a fresh ear and realised that it was actually of a recording quality that I wouldn't feel embarassed about other people hearing.

So, I uploaded some MP3s to soundclick.com a while ago and I was very suprised when one of my tracks (called Winter Sun) recently got into the top 100 in it's genre chart.

So, I have a big favour to ask... if you like instrumental music could you please follow the link below to my soundclick page, click the 'music' link, and then listen to Winter Sun. It won't cost you anything and you can even download it for free if you like it. I don't make any money from this but the further my music goes up in the chart the more exposure it gets which can only be a good thing :D

The link is http://www.soundclick.com/purplerhapsody

Unfortunately it's been classified as "World/New Age". In my opinion it's not really New Age but it didn't seem to fit into any of the other classifications on the soundclick site.

Thanks for reading to the end of this post, and many many many thanks in advance if you listen to Winter Sun.

Cheers,
Tez.
PS: If you really like Winter Sun and all my other tracks that are on there then their IS a CD available - but my goal is exposure rather than sales... even though I'm Scottish! :-)

Nice. (Sorry, but in my opinion, you are right by classifying it as 'new age'. It's the synth-strings that does it. Otherwise it's just straight forward classical piano)

I personally enjoyed 'Rain on my piano' and found 'Hurricane' amusing (did Roger Waters pop in when you recorded that one. )

Send your demo into the BBC (not sure what dept) as it's great for documentaries too.

Thanks for the positive feedback. Thanks to efforts of people on here Winter Sun has managed to get to 23 in it's genre chart!

So, thanks very much!

Not sure exactly what you mean about Roger Waters but I like a couple of his CDs so I'll take that as compliment ;-)

Cheers,
Tez.

When the bass line starts it's fast rhythm it sound very much like RW's style of bass playing from the song 'One of these days...'

Hmm... I first wrote that part of that track back in 1987... when did he write his? Could I conceivably say that he was listening at my window back then?

Cheers,
Tez.
PS: For those that are humour impaired:
DISCLAIMER: What I said above was not meant to be serious. I have no intentions of investigating the possibility of suing(sp?) Mr Waters over any possible similarities in musical composition.

Short answer... YES!

Long answer - I'm just about to look into how I could get some media types interested in listening to my existing 'portfolio' so any helpful links or inside knowledge would be very helpful.

And thanks for the compliment :-D

Cheers,
Tez.

It's on the album 'Meddle' which was released in 1971. And is one of Pink FLoyd's all time classic tracks. (Their live at Pompeii version is awsome )

I don't think RW is that bothered about chasing you for any possible royalties as he's still making a mint from the sales of 'The Wall' and 'Dark side of the Moon'.

Stiil, the track is fun and that's all that matters as it made this Floyd fan smile.
