Cheap eBay watches

Has anyone had any dealings with http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Watches2u-Factory-Outlet?

There seems to be genuine massive savings to be made, and the feedback is good. Or is it one of those "too good to be true" deals?

Any opinions welcome.

Re: Cheap eBay watches

Why does it all remind me of the stuff you'd see on BidUp.TV and the like?

RRP £1500 but yours for £50!!

Re: Cheap eBay watches

It's just a load of watches with made up designer names. The manufacturer's recommended price means squat.

Re: Cheap eBay watches

Krug Baumen... There is a big investigation into them. basically the produce very poor quality watches and shove a huge RRP on them and then they are sold by aload of shoddy businesses. Do a google.

They are the same watches the looky looky people try and sell you at motorway services. I bought a krug years ago and for 50 squids it was not bad.

Tag Monaco ( classic vintage version with the leather strap and blue face). I want one , they reissued them last year but I want an original 1960s version . Prices range from about 1700quid to 2200quid. The original 1960s version in good condition tends to fetch a little bit more than the reissue even though the watches themselves are pretty much identical.

Its also referred to as the Steve McQueen tag as he wore one in Le Mans. Might have been created specifically for this.

Silverback on here used to have one I think.

Re: Cheap eBay watches

I got one of these watches about 4 years ago, still going strong and I wear it every day. Very nice watch and I have never had any problems with it. Hubby has one from this crowd too, and again, no problems with it at all.

Well I couldn't see a watch when Carla Gugino appeared topless in Sin City. But then again I probably didn't notice too much else about that scene, let alone whether she was wearing a watch or not!

Re: Cheap eBay watches

I have never understood the fascination that some people have with watches as to me they are just a tool. Having looked at this website a few times in connection with this thread I have decided that as my watch is about 10 years old it's time I replaced it so I have placed a bid on one with a rrp of £499

I have put a maximum bid of £30 and if I get it I will be very pleased as long as it looks moderately presentable and actually tells the correct time. If I don't get it I will either lose interest or keep bidding £30 on others until I win one.

But I always suspected that watches like these might actually have cheap mechanisms inside and might lose time wuite easily.

Might be better off with one from Argos or H Samuel!!

Re: Cheap eBay watches

I sold these watches about 10 years ago as an additional money earner - we used to pick them up from the main warehouse in Manchester and then flog them for as much as we could - we even provided receipts for £500+. From what I can remember they used to cost about £25, we used to flog them for anything from £50 to £300.However, they were well made and I wore one for about 3 years with no problems at all.

What's the point of spending so much on AV equipment, it all just makes noise and shows pictures ?

Everyone has their own desires. I absolutely love watches, and I imagine when the disposable income creeps up they'll be the main source of the destruction of it .

Mmm... Panerai...

Indeed, I'm the same as you and have spent a stupid amount on watches in the last few years. I have a thing for Breitling atm and here are two from my collection:

My Navitimer is currently getting a service so no picture of it...

Each to their own I guess, my watch is the ownly piece of jewelry I have ever worn so don't mind spending alot on it...

Re: Cheap eBay watches

Thanks to this thread I am now the proud owner of a £435 Claude Valentini 3000 watch with a RRP of £435

If it looks moderately presentable and keeps the time it will be good value for the £21.50 that I paid for it
