New Forum?

Given the recent spate of computer/IT related threads on here, perhaps we need a new section to deal with this?

Then "General Chat" can revert to what it's best at - @rsing about!

They would perhaps be better served by being moved to the already existing PC forum.

There are only "Entertainment PC" and "PC gaming" forums, these are generally quite specific.

A General "PC Help" forum might be useful but may not fit in with the AV theme on here. Down to Stuart's decision I guess

Probably be more useful than the big brother forum.

I've alerted admin about this thread.

Seems like a good idea to me to have a general 'IT support' forum

Agree completely, whenever I have a PC query I tend to plonk it in general chat as the computer forum is a tad specific and less populated.

Yup, I back the idea of an 'IT Support' section. Because technical help doesn't really fit into Entertainment and Computers nor PC Gaming.

Edit* Talking about forums and section. Shouldn't this be in 'Forum Notices & Feedback'

I dont think it should just be a support, it should be like a computing and networking forum, that we can talk about new products as well as support like all the other product orientated forums.

Agreed, we should call it "Information Technology".

Thats the problem with computers - you can use them for so many things that they fit in too many different forum catagories.

I wonder if there is any way of making a general PC forum as sugguested, and moving or linking the entertainment PC and PC gaming sections.
Similar threads appear on both forums, and if they are more combined, it may well generate more regular traffic.

The gamer PC experts and the entertainment PC experts would be a far better resource for solving all those general PC problems together - and they all have similar problems and issues with hardware and operating systems

IT refers to the technology and infrastructure of handling information in business and organisations.
- it does not specifically refer to PC's anymore than it does to a telephone, faxmachine or mobile phone.
