A strange computer-related problem and even stranger solution!

In work, we've had quite a few users having strange problems with M$ office apps. What happens is, when they open a Word document, or try to move within cells in Excel for example, they get an error message that there are not enough resources to display the document completely.

We would have remote-accessed their pc (with Intel Landesk 8.5), changed pagefile size, stopped non-essential services running, scanned for malware etc and this would have resolved the problem. Then one of my colleagues discovered, purely by accident, that simply remote-accessing the pc resolved the problem on it's own with none of the other actions being required.

This resolution works every time and we are completely at a loss to explain why it works.

Does anyone else know or have an idea?
