New to HDMI

Hi
I am a silver surfer just trying to get to grips with HDTV in the UK.
Like many other I expected to be able to watch limited broadcasts including the world cup, but whilst the TV retailers are pushing the sets, there is not sufficent follow up in the industry to enable customers to obtain the set top boxes in time for the games.( and the cost from sky is very high to watch the BBC for which I pay a fee)
I want to see what HDMI looks like on my set before the trial period is up.
I have purchased a HDMI dvd player, can somebody please direct me to a site on the web where I can download some sample footage please.

I'm sorry to disappoint but I very much doubt your HDMI DVD player will recognise any Hi-Definition files (1280*720 or 1920*1080)

I suspect it will read Standard Def files and "upscale" them to 1280*720 or 1920*1080

what is the make and model of your HDMI DVD player?

Your TV set will have to be able to display HDTV, so this depends on how old or new it is. You may be better to go to a shop where they have the HDTV sets on display with a demo playing.
