Moving soon.. what do I need to do?!

Ok, so the move is coming up, but I need to know what to sort out! I have sorted out my phone line & broadband (the most important thing!) and electricity is on a Key. I assume GAS is not included on the key, and I will have to sign up with somebody, how do I go about this & who is the best?

Also, do I need to contact the council for tax or do they sort it out themselves (don't pay council tax where I currently live). The taps currently work, does this mean the place is hooked up to water (possibly still being paid for by the previous tenants)?

I am new to all this so don't know 100% what I'm doing, any advice what I should do would be great! Cheers

Don't forget to change your address with the bank & credit cards, and have your mail redirected. The Post Office make a nominal charge for this. If you take the service up, send yourself a postcard to the old address, and make sure it arrives.

Looking at the time you posted this you are not sleeping very well. It will be fine. When you phone the utilities get the persons name you speak to and note the time of the call. Don't want to induce paranoia but I've had some deny I've ever rang.

Shouldn't most of this be on your tenancy contract? - i.e whether or not you should be paying gas, elec, water, council tax etc?... contact the landlord or letting agent if anything is unclear. If you are liable for the CT, then you should contact the council.

Also contact council about change of address on the electoral roll; or if you've never registered, now's the time (& opt out of the "edited list" to avoid junk mail) as its useful for your credit rating and combatting ID fraud

You should also change address on your TV Licence; insurance policies; share certificates, bonds, etc etc etc

Some good advice there, but I don't think I'd trust them with my personal information.
