D'oh!

I parked my car yesterday in Manchester city centre at around 9.30am and as it was raining very hard (!) I had to duck into the boot and grab my umbrella. As I opened it the umbrella turned inside out and I had to drop my bag and rescue it.

All was well with the working day (as usual) and when I returned to my car it crossed my mind why my parking receipt had moved from near the gearstick to on top of the arm rest. Then I realised, I hadn't locked the car and some nice person had capitalised on this and relieved me of all my CDs in the glove box. I had locked the glove box but this had been forced off.

This thread is for theraputic (sp?) reasons. So, D'OH!!!!!! There, that feels a little better. No point bothering with the insurance I would suspect.

Anyone else had any D'Oh! moments to rival this one....... makes you feel better when you share it.

yeah went for a family meal last weekend ..which starts great but by the end your glad to leave with two toddlers trying to take over the place. We all set off and as i was driving home up the national speed limit road i remembered i had left my bag under the table..my reaction was to bring the car to a near enough stop and was considering doing a three point turn to get back. Not a good idea however this was a fast country road not a motorway. I continued on found somewhere to turn around and headed back. Luckily the staff had it waiting for me...so i was pleased.Just as well no-one was behind me on that road though

It must have been raining very hard for that to happen.

A slight edit on your words

None at all, I'm afraid. You're very lucky your car wasn't stolen, because if it's left unlocked the insurance won't want to know.

Exclamation

HI Abbeygoo,

Sorry to hear this has happened. I lived in Manchester a few years ago, and always found it to be a nice place to be. It's a shame to hear that some unscrupulous git has gone and screwed you over. Hope you're not getting too down about the whole thing.

Oh, I don't suppose you parked the car near anywhere that has a security camera, did you? Might be worth seeing if they saw anything, or got anyone on camera acting "suspiciously" (and I'm not talking about acting like a total chav, either)!

Good Luck!

Thanks Pooch.

Lived in Manchester all my life - don't think it's a problem with the place, more a problem with my brain. I think they probably just chance walking round car parks seeing if anyone has left their cars unlocked. Not too sure if a security camera (or the police) would be much help.

As I said when starting the thread ...... D'OH!
