i realy did not know this trick

This is for everyone whose eyesight isn't what it use to be.

I just found out about this and thought I should pass it along. It's very useful when trying to read small e-mail print. If you hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard and spin the small wheel in the middle of your mouse, the print size of the message will change -- it will either get larger or smaller, depending on which way you turn the wheel. Quite amazing!

Please do pass this on to other friends with tired eyes, who may find it very useful!!!

I thought everyone knew this?...

Anyway, since we are sharing tricks. Try this one...

Start > Run > sndvol32

Do you find that the Volume Control window is too big and goes off your screen?

Press Ctrl + S

Voila!

One i'm ashamed to say i just discovered a few weeks ago :-

in internet explorer, entering the name of a shortcut in your favourites menu into the address bar will take you to the appropriate url that the favourite points to. now i just type 'av' to go to here!

What about some nice compact fractions; Hold down Alt, press 172 on the numeric keypad and you get a quarter, with 171 being a half.

There are others I suppose, just haven't found them myself, but I'd wager someone on here knows them!

Works in a load of apps. Word, Excel, IE Firefox to name a few. In word it is particularly nice if your eye sight is good as you can zoom out to see the entire document, pick a page and zoom back in. Reminds me of Minority Report for some reason.

Just use ACDSee, or if it's still about, Picaview (right click on images gives you a nice thumbnail view - assuming, like me, you hate the windows generated Thumbs).

If you get this http://www.irfanview.com/

in the application go to the top menu with your picture inserted you can drag and drop it out of my pictures and resize it
you open image tab chose resize and sample and you just double the size or make it smaller but do not forget if you want to keep it. to enter file and chose save as its good for inserting pics in hear.

There is a program called "Character map" which shows all characters, and built into windows.

I found out about the text size thing a couple of years ago when I accidentally did it and couldn't work out what the hell had gone wrong with my computer as I couldn't work out how to put it back.

Otherwise, these shortcuts are indeed very useful and I use most of them daily now... Character map is the right choice for finding out what's available in your font set, I used to have a whole list of the foreign and scientific characters which I used regularly.
Anyone who regularly needs to write/edit scientific type text (and uses MS Office) should be sure to install MS Equation Editor or the more advanced Mathtype. The freely available Open Office also includes an equation editing program called Math.

For Firefox users; middle-click a link and it will open it in a new tab. Middle-click a tab and it will close.
