I really enjoy meat loaf.

Have it on occasion, and you can't beat a bit of tommy k and a few peas and mashed potato with it

A meatloaf is a roast made from ground beef with onions, bound by eggs and roasted in a tin, although not as popular in the UK there are many british meat loaf receipes, italian meatloaf is great and is quite poular in the south

Twinkie is a tradename. They are a golden sponge cake which is baked and then a cream filling is injected into the middle, Think of a cream sponge, or cream sandwich cake but in an enclosed bar form

Yes mince, here you are:

Ingredients:

450g minced beef
100g bacon (pancetta if you can get it)
100g breadcrumbs
1egg
Pepper and salt
1 onion, finely chopped
Beef stock
1 teaspoonful of mixed herbs

Method :

Finely chop the onion and the bacon, add to a large mixing bowl.
Then add breadcrumbs, 1 beaten egg, pepper and salt, mixed herbs and about 2-3 tablespoons of stock or warm water, mix well until all the liquid has been absorbed.
Grease a bread tin, put the mixture in the tin smooth the top and cover with tinfoil.
Cook on Gas 4/ 350f/ 180c for 90 min removing the tinfoil after 60 min.

Back on topic, you can also bung some chilli powder and a few red beans into the mix for a chilli-stylee 'loaf.

What other American delicacies have been a let down for you ?

I always wanted to try Root Beer. I imagined that it would taste a bit like dandelion & burdock. What a shock I got ! It was more like cough mixture

Ah, they have some delicious food too. One delicacy that I loved having on my many visits to Chicago was the local speciality - "cheddar fries" - french fries (chips) with melted cheese on top. Yummmm !
