anyone know how to get oil out of a carpet?
my computer chair has bust and is leaking some kind of oil/grease  missus not happy, can anyone help?

Have you any lighter fluid in the house? If so you could try that. Also thinners will dissolve oil and grease but I try it on an area that is not noticeable first encase the colours run.
Best thing to do when you got it sorted is to get one of those hard plastic sheets with grippers to put under your chair it will stop the wear caused by the runners and you feet, I bout a small flat rug and tacked it down. If it gets worn down or damages it cheap to repair rather than re-carpeting a whole room.

You could try the old trick with some brown paper and a warm iron. (Not to be used in conjunction with Garrett's suggestion !)

1001 stain troubleshooter is excellent. its a squirty foam thing. when I traipsed through the house with engine oil on my feet it got it off.

Poor warm water with washing up liquid on it then Vax i up, repeat till most oil gone then finish off with a proper Vax

You can get a bottle of dry cleaning fluid from most hardware shops which will shift this no problem. Remembering to test it in an out of sight spot first to ensure colour fastness.
